Blood Institute welcomes new board
members
MyronL. Pope, of Edmond, has been
named to the Oklahoma Blood
Institutes board. Pope is University of
Central Oklahomas vice president of
Enrollment Management and interim
assistant vice president of Student
Affairs. He has worked at the University
of Alabama and University of Oklahoma
infaculty and administrative roles. He
serves onthe regional and national
boards of many professional organiza-
tions involved with higher education.
Pope is already active onseveral com-
munity boards including the Edmond
Area Chamber of Commerce and the
YMCA.

Leadership Oklahoma and his past suc-
cess as anNCAAchampionship football
player attest to his character, said Dr.
JohnArmitage, Blood Institute president
and CEO.
JimMarvel also was named to the
board. Marvel is vice president of Great

was recently named president of the
Oklahoma Beverage Association.
Southwest Bancorp Inc. announces
fourth quarter 2013 earnings release,
conference call
Southwest Bancorp Inc. announced
that it plans to issue a news release
reporting fourth quarter 2013 results
after the market closes Jan. 21. The news
release also will be available at that time
onSouthwests website at

Community Action Agency offers
business development course
The Community ActionAgency is cur-
rently enrolling for the Small Business
Training Course. This is a four-week
course at MetroTechnology Centers,
1700 Springlake Drive, from6-8 p.m.
beginning Jan. 28 through Feb. 20 on
Tuesday andThursday evenings. The
cost of the course is $25. This course is
taught by community professionals to
speak ontopics such as legal issues,
financials, tax issues, marketing, adver-
tising, e-commerce, business plan
development and pursuing funding. The
course targets businesses working
through the start up or expansion
process. Class space is limited, to enroll
contact the Economic Development
Divisionof Community ActionAgency

Additional training and one-on-one
counseling will be available to those
seeking funding through the
Community ActionAgencys Economic
Development loanprograms. The
Community ActionAgency has loans up
to $250,000 available to qualified appli-
cants for business start-up and expan-
sionand is focused onpromoting the
establishment of entrepreneurial busi-
ness activities through Business
Training, Small Business Loans and
Individual Development Accounts.

bon cutting to celebrate its grand open-
ing. Dedicated topickleball, the store
sells paddles, nets, balls and sportswear
for use in participating in the sport and
is staffed by knowledgeable enthusi-
asts.
Pickleball is a combination of bad-
minton, tennis, and Ping-Pong and can
be played on a badminton or tennis
court, or even on a driveway.
Boulevard Paddles is open on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
from10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. On
Tuesdays andThursdays, the staff
spends their time playing the game at
