In view of a recent directive from the Oklahoma Tax Commission refusing to permit same-sex couples married in other jurisdictions to file their state taxes jointly, TEN will monitor this bill to ensure that it does not get amended to include language harmful to same-sex couples.

Mandates that students shall not be penalized or rewarded on account of the religious content of their work. Allows students to organize religious gatherings or prayer meetings on school grounds. Bars obscene speech, vulgar speech, offensively lewd spe ech, indecent speech, or speech that promotes illegal drug use.

Turner) Calls for a Joint House Resolution that asks the Secretary of State to call for a popular vote on a proposed amendment to the state constitutional amendment outlawing same-sex marriage (originally called SQ 711, passed in 2004).

The only change that Rep. Turner proposes to the current constitutional amendment is the substitution of Oklahoma where the law currently reads the state.

Turner has also introduced a House Joint Resolution (HJR 1076) calling for a second statewide ballot banning same-sex marriage, it is assumed that this bill also aims to keep same-sex marriage illegal. Judicial Reform SB 1894 (Sen. Sykes) Establishes a code of conduct for judges; establishes standards and requirements for extrajudicial, avocational, governmental, civic, charitable, financial and fiduciary activities of judges; prohibits the practice of law by judges; establishes requirements for judicial candidates. This proposed legislation violates the separation of powers and imperils the independence of the judiciary.
