Isaac Newton (1642-1727)

EARLY LIFE:
He was born on December 25, 1642 in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, in England. Orphan since birth. Was raised by his grandparents.

EDUCATION:
From the age of 12-17, Newton studied at The Kings School, Grantham. At the age of 18, He was removed from school. In 1661 Newton became a student in Trinity college in Cambridge. Bachelors degree in 1665.

EDUCATION:
The next two years Newton returned home where he came up with most of his discoveries. He returned to Trinity College in 1667.
Professor of mathematics in 1669.

PERSONAL LIFE:
Newton had problems with his mother. He had little interest for general society. Never been married. Newton was member of the Parliament of England from 1689 to 1690.

PERSONAL LIFE:
In 1696, Newton moved to London

Newton was made President of the Royal Society in 1703. Newton was knighted by Queen Anne in 1705. Many biographers trace the roots of Newton's insecurity and aggressiveness to his earliest years.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
Reflection Telescope:
In 1668, he was able to produce the first reflecting telescope.

It is known as Newtonian Telescope.

Universal Law of Gravity:
In 1687, Newton returned back to work on Mechanics.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
First law of motion: Law of Inertia
An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

Second law of motion:
Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

DEATH OF A GENIUS:
In the last few years of Newton's life he was troubled by urinary problem probably due to a kidney stone.
Isaac Newton died on March 31, 1727 in London, England. After his death, Newton's body was discovered to have had massive amounts of mercury in it.

CONCLUSION:
Lagrange : "the most fortunate, for we cannot find more than once a system of the world to establish. Alexander Pope: Nature and nature's laws lay hid in night; God said "Let Newton be" and all was light. Albert Einstein kept a picture of Newton on his study wall.
