Increatingthisnewsystem,Dolbyutilizeditsvastexperiencewithproductionand exhibition,processingsystems,andcinemaequipmentdesign.Designedfromtheground up,DolbyDigitalCinemaservestheexhibitionandproductioncommunitiesequallywell, ensuringthatthecinemacontinuestoprovidetheoptimumenvironmentforexperiencing thedirectorsvision.Buildingonthecompanysuniqueexperienceasapioneerin entertainmenttechnologiesandasaleadingsupplierofcinemaaudioequipment,Dolby DigitalCinemaprovidesreliability,flexibilityofoperation,adaptabilityforthefuture,and systemsecurity.Containingbothimageandsoundcomponents,itincorporatestheopen standardsspecifiedbyDigitalCinemaInitiatives(DCI)andSMPTE. WithDolbyTheatreSync,whenyouchangeasettingusingtheTMS,itsynchronizeswith theSMS,evenifyoudisconnecttheserver.IftheTMSisunavailable,theuserinterface automaticallyswitchestoSMSmode,providinglocalcontrol.Whenyoucreateoredita showusingtheSMS(whendisconnectedfromtheTMSorinstandalonemode),the changesautomaticallysynchronizewiththeTMSwhenyoureconnectit.Thisfunctionality alsosimplifieshardwarereplacement(includingreplacementorinstallationoftheDolby ShowLibrary),astheentirenetworkservesasaredundantsourceforshowandschedule information.Asaresult,DolbyTheatreSyncallowsyoutorunyourDigitalCinemaSystem accordingtoyourneeds,insteadoflockingthesystemintoasinglemodeofoperation. TheDolbyDSS200andDolbyShowLibrary(DSL100)arethecorecomponentsofthe DolbyDigitalCinemapresentationsystem.TheDSS200readsaudioandvideocontent files,decryptsanddecodesthiscontent,andreencryptsthevideo.TheDSS200thensends thelinkencryptedvideotothelocalauditoriumsdigitalcinemaprojectorfordecryption andplaybackontheassociatedscreen.TheDSS200sendstheaudioportionofthebitstream toaDolbyDMA8PlusDigitalMediaAdapterandexistingcinemaprocessorordirectlyto aDolbyCP650(equippedwithaCat.No.790optioncard)oraDolbyCP750forplayback throughthelocalauditoriumsexistingamplifiersandloudspeakers.TheDSL100isa highcapacitystorageserverthatfacilitatesmultiplexnetworkingandoptimizescontent storagerequirements.WiththeDSL100,youcanloadallcontentatonecentrallocation usingremovableharddrives,USB2.0drives,DVDs,ornetworkFTP.Theunitdistributes fileselectronicallytoallnetworkedDolbyDigitalCinemasystemswithinthemultiplex. TheDSL100playsakeyroleinmanagingatheatresEthernetbasedequipment,andopens agatewaytoeachauditorium.TheDSL100isrequiredforconfigurationswithfourormore auditoriums. Toplayashowonaspecificscreen,theDSS200connectstoanauditoriumnetworkthrough thatnetworksEthernetswitch.Thisswitchdoesnotconnecttooldcinemaprocessors.It interfaceswiththeauditoriumnetworksDolbyDMA8PlusDigitalMediaAdapterora DolbyCP650orCP750cinemaprocessor,theauditoriumsdigitalcinemaprojector,andthe optionalDolbyNA10(orothertheatreautomationconnectionusingASCIIoverRS232). ThisconnectionallowstheDSS200tomanagetheauditoriumsEthernetbasedequipment anditstheatreassets(curtains,lights,andsoon).
