Dolby TheatreSync
WithDolbyTheatreSync,whenyouchangeasettingusingtheTMS,itsynchronizeswith theSMS,evenifyoudisconnecttheserver.IftheTMSisunavailable,theuserinterface automaticallyswitchestoSMSmode,providinglocalcontrol.Whenyoucreateoredita showusingtheSMS(whendisconnectedfromtheTMSorinstandalonemode),the changesautomaticallysynchronizewiththeTMSwhenyoureconnectit.Thisfunctionality alsosimplifieshardwarereplacement(includingreplacementorinstallationoftheDolby ShowLibrary),astheentirenetworkservesasaredundantsourceforshowandschedule information.Asaresult,DolbyTheatreSyncallowsyoutorunyourDigitalCinemaSystem accordingtoyourneeds,insteadoflockingthesystemintoasinglemodeofoperation. Register the CAT862 Decoders

Unpacking the System


YoushouldinspecttheDSS200anditsshippingpackageandcontactDolbyimmediatelyif youfindanydamage. IdentifyasuitablelocationfortherackunitthatwillholdtheDSS200.Itshouldbesituated inaclean,dustfreeareathatiswellventilated.Avoidareaswhereheat,electricalnoiseand electromagneticfieldsaregenerated.Youwillalsoneedtoplaceitnearagroundedpower outlet.ReadalloftheprecautionslistedinSection3.3.2.

Preparing for Setup

Reduced Airflow
Equipmentshouldbemountedintoaracksothattheamountofairflowrequiredforsafe operationisnotcompromised.

Mechanical Loading
Equipmentshouldbemountedintoaracksothatahazardousconditiondoesnotarisedue tounevenmechanicalloading.

Circuit Overloading
Considerationshouldbegiventotheconnectionoftheequipmenttothepowersupply circuitryandtheeffectthatanypossibleoverloadingofcircuitsmighthaveonovercurrent protectionandpowersupplywiring.Appropriateconsiderationofequipmentnameplate ratingsshouldbeusedwhenaddressingthisconcern.

Reliable Ground

ThissectionshowsyouhowtoconnectmultipleauditoriumstoaDolbyDigitalCinema theatrenetwork.Afterinstallingthehardwareforeachscreen,continuethe multiplescreeninstallationbyconnectingaDSL100andtheDSS200ineachauditoriumto thetheatrenetwork,asdescribedinthefollowingsections. Note: Formultiplescreenconfigurationswiththreeorlessauditoriums,youcanuseone oftheDSS200sastheTMSServer,insteadoftheDSL100.

3.4.1

Set Up Theatre Network


Inamultiplex,youcaninstallaDolbyDigitalCinemasysteminmorethanoneauditorium, andsetupatheatrenetworktomanageeachofthesescreenswithDolbyTMS.Youbegin thistypeofinstallationbysettingupasinglescreensystemineachauditoriumfollowing theinstructionsintheprevioussectionsinthischapter.Youcanthencontinuewiththe installationbyconnectingtheDSL100andtheDSS200ineachauditorium(alongwithany remoteTMSClientPCs)tothetheatrenetworkswitch(seeFigure 315).Theprocedures thatfollowshowyouhowtoperformtheinstallation. Note: Inamultiplex(seeFigure 315),youconnectaDolbyDSL100tothetheatrenetwork foruseastheDolbyTMSServer.Inthistypeofconfiguration,theDSL100isnot directlyconnectedtoanyspecificauditoriumnetwork.Itisconnectedonlytothe theatrenetworkswitch.ForinformationonusingDolbyTMS,refertotheTMS onlinehelpsystem.
