Existing software description and the inspiration

Our software , the Carnook vehicle service station aims to implement the entire range of services to a customer who comes in for car servicing and repair. The basic process is that a customer logs in, and fills in important information relating to him/her and the cars, so that this information can be retrieved as and when required. For example it could be home delivery of the car or online payment of the bill. Using the information entered by the customer an approximate delivery date is generated along with the receipt. The customer can view the services provided by the service station and can also view the bill once the service is done. \\ The software also maintains the database of the quantity in stock of the parts. If the quantity is less than the lower limit, new parts are bought from the supplier and the database is updated.\\ The inspiration of this idea was Carnook service station in Pune. The services provided and the website of this particular station were the inspiration of our software. Car service stations in India generally lack good technology and good database storage. The data is stored in a very haphazard manner due to lack of opportunity and awareness. That is why, we being computer engineering students felt the need of designing software which could be of great help to these service stations so that they can store and retrieve data efficiently. The less usage of technology in this arena inspired us to develop further features and improvements to make the software user friendly and efficient.\\ The people who manage these stations are generally not very comfortable with the new technologies. This motivated us to make a software which is user friendly and could be easily handled by any non-computer expert too.\\

Apart from meeting the requirements of small stations we also wanted to bring new reforms in our software which have not been used before in India. We went through a lot of service station websites and after a lot of research we found that our software could embed a more online service. With the growing technology we are looking for more adaptive softwares. Thus our online billing and home delivery of the car were new features added to the usual vehicle service stations. Once a car is done servicing, the station can give the delivery of the car to the customers house retrieving his address and phone number from the customer registration database. The customer can check the bill and can also pay the bill online.\\ The demand for cars in the present market has increased to a very unprecedented level. Thus, software like this is of a great help to the customers who can sit back at home or continue with their busy schedules and get their car repaired or check the services provided by the service station and can also find out the status of the car.\\ The other advantage of this software is that it provides a 24 hour service. Customer can register in the car at any time.\\ The check of availability of parts is another efficient feature of this software. Often stations cannot provide facility of some parts as they might be out of stock due to delay in placing the order. This software automatically checks and asks for the update from the supplier when the stock is below the lower limit.\\ Inspired by Bosch service and Bosch auto repairs website we included an online contact us service which includes the ability to ask servicing questions to our Carnook experts. It also helps them to enable best deals for their cars. The customer can also ask for any promotions offered by the service centre. Apart from this the software enables customer to look for promotions and schemes on the website and also check their nearest service stations.\\

Another most important features of our Carnook service stations is the Google maps. It helps customers not only to find nearest stations but also locate them on the map and help them to reach the required stations. The service station can also locate the address of the customers. The suppliers can also locate the address of the service stations. This facility will be proved of great importance. This innovative idea was suggested by our group members only and we were very confident over implementing it.\\ The about us page also enables customers to be sure of the service station and check their license and permit which is the responsibility of any service station. It gives a sense of security to the customers when the give their cars.\\ Our software also ensures that the license of the customer is well within the expiry date. It also checks if the vehicle is in the warrantee period and gives further discounts depending on it.\\ Since our software offers unparalleled service and unique facilities, we hope to expand our software globally.\\
