The PMI JDBC's Social Outreach Project (2008-2009) helped
improve the infrastructure of an organization called Change
From Within (CFW). CFW, which is headquartered at the
University of the West Indies, specializes in the deployment
of anti-violence programmes in schools. CFW tailors these
initiatives for each school, by recruiting staff and students
to identify issues and steer the programme at their
institution.

PM careers, particularly those from the Faculty of the Built
Environment, School of Architecture and School of
Computer Science and Engineering.
Enquiries on the Chapter’s professional development
services were handled by the Secretariat Administrator,
Julaine Wright, who shared information on our Certificate in
Applied Project Management course. Mock interviews were
also conducted with candidates by the Corporate Relations
Director, Nicola Denniser, PMP. Several candidates
requested the creation of a Job and Skills Bank and asked
that their resume be collected and shared with potential
employers.
Featured Member Fitzroy Gregory, PMP
Fitzroy A. Gregory has been
practicing project
management since 1989.
With a Masters in Business
Administration from the
Florida International
University, he is currently
the Project Manager at
Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited
responsible for the planning
and implementation of the
real estate projects being
undertaken by Sagicor.
Having successfully completed the planning and construction
of the Winchester Estate Apartments and the Winchester
Business Centre for Sagicor, he is now overseeing the pre
construction planning of just under J$3.8B of projects for
Sagicor. A certified PMP since 2005, he is now in his second
PMP cycle. He has served on a number of public sector
boards, namely the Social Development Commission,
Institute of Jamaica, Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority, the
Prime Ministerial Advisory Council as well as the Best Care
Foundation. He is also a former Chairman of the Vauxhall
High School.
A past student of Kingston Technical High and the College of
Arts Science & Technology, now UTECH, he enjoys hiking,
fishing and scuba diving and believes he can do all things
through Christ Jesus. Fitzroy’s project management
philosophy is “'Get it right the first time everytime!"

Our March Chapter meeting was well attended
by members and media and witnessed Mr.
Joseph Matalon giving a thorough and
enlightening report on his experiences leading
the Greater Portmore project. Of particular
interest was the political and economic context
in which the project was developed and DI D YO U K N O W?
implemented.

The PMI JDBC in association with DPM

International, a PMI Registered Education
Provider (REP), offers the Certificate in Applied
Project Management course 2-3 times per year.
This 12- week course is facilitated by Boston University
trained presenters. Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays
from 6 – 9 p.m.
