Principals Message

, 2013

Members Only! Hey, Thats YOU! Did you know that as a family member of a Ventana Vista student, you are , 2013 automatically a member of our Family Faculty Organization? There are no dues for membership; however, we rely heavily on active participation in this important organization from our parents, in order to make our school the way we all have come know and love! NEWSLETTER OF VENTANA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL The mission of the Ventana Vista FFO is to: Promote the welfare of children; provide communication between the faculty and families to facilitate academic cooperation; and assist the school in coordinating programs that provide our students with current educational practices. The VVFFO shall conduct fundraising , 2012 activities consistent with its status as a nonprofit corporation. In addition, we will use volunteer support throughout the school. Thanks to the support of the FFO, we enjoy programs and events such as our New MARCH 23, 2012 Family Ice Cream Social, Book Fairs, Halloween Extravaganza, Family Science Nights, the Bobcat Run, Principals Breakfasts, Love of Reading Night, Science Fair, Field Trips, and more! In addition, our teachers have been the grateful recipients of classroom funds from the FFO that reduce the out-of-pocket expenses , 2010 they would otherwise incur when providing supplies/materials for special projects. The FFO has funded technology purchases, as well as school beautification projects, and so much more!

All parents have busy, hectic schedules, and when it comes to participating in the XZXC0000 FFO, may think, Oh, someone else will step up. They dont need ME! YES, WE DO! We are SO appreciative of the current and past FFO Board Members. These 09 volunteers work tirelessly to help the organization achieve its mission. However, these individuals cannot do it all themselves. We have had to cancel one event so far this year (BINGO Night) because of lack of volunteers to lead the event. So, how can you help? We are in need of volunteers to serve on next years FFO Executive Board. Those who are currently serving will mentor new board members. We are also in need of many chair-people. Most of the events/programs listed above require a chair or co-chairs who can take the lead and organize others , 2008 to help make them happen. Please consider how you can contribute in order to keep our FFO alive and well. Please feel free to contact me with questions. Or, you can reach our current FFO President, Nadine Stoner at president@vvffo.org or by calling the school office (well pass along your message!). THANK YOU! Parking Lot Incident Recently, a vehicle in our parking lot was broken into, and a purse was stolen. This took place within a 10-minute period while a student was being walked into the school. The incident was immediately reported to 911. Just a reminder not to leave valuables in your vehicles; and to, of course, report any suspicious activity right away.
Mission Statement The mission of Catalina Foothills School District and Ventana Vista Elementary School is to guarantee that each student achieves academic and personal excellence, becomes a lifelong learner and is a responsible citizen of the world, by engaging all students in meaningful programs which meet the highest educational and ethical standards within a caring, collaborative learning community.

Open Enrollment for School Year 2014-2015

Pursuant to A.R.S. 15-816 Catalina Foothills School District will begin its open enrollment procedures for the 2014-2015 school year effective December 1, 2013. The law requires every Arizona school district to follow a prescribed procedure and timetable for admitting out-ofdistrict transfer students and resident transfer students (those who live in the District but are attending a school outside the attendance area of their residence). All students who currently attend CFSD schools and reside in other districts, and all CFSD resident students who are attending a different school than they would based on their residence, are impacted by this law. We require that all open enrollment students apply for admission each year. Therefore, if your child is a resident transfer (open enrollment) student and you want him/her to continue in that capacity, or if your child resides outside of the district and you want him/her to continue to attend a CFSD school next year, please complete an application form between

December 1, 2013, and February 28, 2014. applications and information regarding the application process are on the district web site, www.cfsd16.org (as of December 1, 2013), or
