s many of you know, I underwent a planned medical procedure during late summer. Over the past several months, I have been recovering and slowly Dr. Gary Quinn working my way back BPSD SUPERINTENDENT into my role a superintendent. In my absence, our school board named Executive Director of Human Resources Chuck McCauley as interim superintendent. On Monday, the Board of Education officially removed the title of interim superintendent from Mr. McCauley. With that action, I have now officially returned to my role as Superintendent of the Bartlesville Public School District. I am extremely pleased to be back and I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers throughout my recovery process. The outpouring of support I received was special and it speaks volumes about what a great community Bartlesville is. I would also like to thank all of the great administrators, staff and teachers throughout the Bartlesville Public School District as well as the Board of Education. Your support has been amazing. We truly have an exceptional group of individuals who work hard to ensure our students receive the best education possible each and every day. In my absence, the great work throughout the district obviously didnt stop and that is certainly indicative of the outstanding individuals and students we have throughout the district. We passed the largest school bond in district history, Bartlesville Mid-High School was named a National Blue Ribbon School, we had four schools in our district receive a grade of A- or better on the latest state report card, five of our schools were named reward schools and two of our fall sports teams were named academic state champions, and thats just a few of the great things we have accomplished so far this year. I look forward to continuing the great work that has taken place throughout the year and having a great second semester. Once again, thank you for your support. I look forward to settling back into my role and helping continue the tradition of excellence that exists throughout our great district.

OETT representatives visit Mid-High

Representatives from the Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust visited the Bartlesville Mid-High on Thursday, to participate in a site visit to see the 2013 OETT grant in action. The $65,000 grant provides technology and professional development to Bartlesville Mid-High School students and teachers. The OETT grant will provide two portable and wireless iPad labs, which will enable students and teachers to broaden their educational windows by allowing for additional opportunities for collaboration, shared decision making, problem solving and critical thinking. Bartlesville Mid-High School joins 187 other schools in Oklahoma and their combined 75,000 students that have received the OETT grants since 2003. In addition, more than 5,500 teachers have received professional development training to assist with the new technology. OETT was established 12 years ago as a result of an agreement between then Attorney General Drew Edmondson and AT&T Oklahoma during the companys transition to a modern form of regulation. As part of the agreement, AT&T contributed $30 million to establish the trust. For additional information on OETT, visit www. oett.org.
