he Board of Directors of the Crocodile Foun dation approved to release their pledge of US$300,000 for the College of Medicine building project in a meeting held January 8, 2014. They approved to release their pledge after the Southern Asia Pacific Division and the North Philippine Union Conference both fulfilled the requirement of matching the Foundations pledge for the building project. The Crocodile Foundation is the charitable arm of the Crocodile Group of Companies based in Singapore which has helped a lot of institutions and individuals all over the world. The Crocodile Group has its presence in 24 countries with over 110 product lines and 2000 exclusive stores and galleries. Beth Casel, the former director of the AUP Alumni and Philanthropic Office worked hard with the Crocodile Foundation to arrange their contribution. H
Crocodile is the brainchild of Dato Dr Tan Hian Tsin since 1947. As an indomitable pioneer in mens fashion then, it soon made its presence felt across the regions starting from Singapore to South East Asian countries, Hong Kong and Japan by the early 1980s. It evolved to become a lifestlye brand providing a total wardrobe solution to the family of modern days.
Waling Waling Hall: Newest Girls Dormitory The Waling-waling hall, a dormi-
tory for ladies built at the back of Cadena de Amor hall is the newest student residence in the campus. The first phase with 52 rooms is designed to house two to four occupants per room. The dorm consists of a basement, ground floor, and three upper rooms and could accommodate a total of 190 students. Compared to other older dormitories, the Waling Waling hall has better amenities. It was designed with good ventilation thus a healthier place to live. Each room has a shower room
January 2014 separated from the rest room and has a separate laundry area. For students looking for a place to pray, a prayer room is provided beside the worship area for the spiritual well being of the residents. Mrs. Raquel Capiendo serves as the Dean of Waling-Waling hall. Assisting her is Eunice Fajutagana, one of our graduate assistants doing her masters at the Graduate school. The name Waling-waling is from a variety of orchid locally grown in the Philippines. In 2013, the Philippine senate passed a bill declaring WalingWaling as a national flower alongside the Sampaguita. AUP Extends Help to Victims of For Typhoon Yolanda the first time in AUP history, the AUP admin-
istration, with the support of employees, decided to cancel the yearly workers yearend party. This is a response to the report of a group of AUP workers who were sent to Leyte last October 2013 during the semestral break to give the AUPs initial aid to the victims of the typhoon. The money intended for the yearend party was used to purchase goods, food, and other basic commodities. Additional contributions have come from personal finances of employees and students who wanted to share their blessings. There were also friends from off campus and abroad who sent their donation through AUP for our countrymen who are suffering because of typhoon Yolandas fury. Workers of AUP repacked the goods in December 17, 2013 at the University gymnasium. As a result of this gesture of love, 700 families who each received a package worth PhP1,000.00 were served through a group of AUP workers joined by ther volunteers from other Adventist institutions and churches who distributed the goods. Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.
