Federal, statewide and Providence mayoral campaigns ! to forgo paid political ads on WPRO-AM ! while DePetro remains on the air

WARWICK - The campaign to challenge hate radio in Rhode Island picked up signicant momentum this week when a number of the states Congressional, statewide and Providence mayoral campaigns agreed not to purchase political advertisements on WPRO-AM for as long as the station and Cumulus Media keep shock jock bully John DePetro on the air. !

Weve appealed to WPRO and Cumulus Medias sense of decency in requesting that they sever their relationship with a man who degrades women by calling them whores, but it appears the only way to achieve a permanent solution is to further demonstrate just how bad this individual is for business, said Maureen Martin, who chairs For Our Daughters, the organization that has been calling attention to DePetros verbal attacks on women. ! Last September, DePetro referred to a group of teachers, nurses and other union women assembled outside a political event as W-H-O-R-E-S during his morning broadcast. To date, dozens of elected leaders, candidates for statewide and local ofce, as well as party ofcials, have pledged not to appear on any WPRO show until DePetro is terminated.
