Mrs. Moneeza Hashmi, has been awarded the inaugural Benazir Bhutto Chair at Lahore College Women University. Mrs Hashmi has done her Masters in Education from Punjab University and MEd from University of Huwaii USA. She is presently into her second term as President of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, UK; is handling the international relations of HUM TV as General Manager, Pakistan; is Project Advisor to LightStorm Entertainment; and Trustee of Faiz Foundation Trust and Faiz Ghar. Mrs. Hashmi realizes that under the Benazir Bhutto Chair initiative, there is an opportunity to reach out to the students of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) who are the future of Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto Chair aims to educate and empower these young women of Pakistan by providing them access to thoughts of enlightened and educated professionals in various fields.

An award winning, heart wrenching documentary based on Israel-Palestinian conflict. The Letter won the 2008 World TV Award for Best Documentary in the category of Promoting Religious Understanding and Tolerance. World TV Award is an initiative of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting and Development. Mrs. Moneeza Hashmi was the chairperson of the jury.

Benazir Bhutto Lecture Series*: October 2013:


Under the mission statement of the Benazir Bhutto Chair, Peace, Reconciliation and Development a series of lectures and film screenings will be conducted. The lectures and film screenings aim to emphasize peace and reconciliation through various disciplines.

Dr. Shaheen Ali:


Date: October 24th, 2013 Topic: Development of Family Law in Pakistan: Challenges and Prospects
Dr Shaheen Sardar Ali, BA; LLB; MA; LLM; PhD, Professor of Law at Warwick and Vice-Chair of the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, who was included in the 100 most influential Pakistani women in 2012. Dr. Shaheen Ali's research interests lie at the intersection of Islamic Law and Jurisprudence, Women and Child Rights and International Law of Human Rights. She has written and published extensively in her areas of research.

Ms. Seemi Raheel:


Date: October 10th, 2013 Topic: Relationship between Peace and Media
Initially a graduate of National College of Art (NCA), Seemi Raheel found her vocation in acting. Later she moved on to anchoring her own programs. Her area of interest has developed over the past decade to focus more on gender sensitization and creating an awareness regarding gender issues through the media. She has also conducted several training programs, workshop and participated in national and international summits. She has been awarded the Best Actress Award by PTV for one of her outstanding performances in TV Drama.

Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed:


Date: October 31st 2013 Topic: Promoting Peace through Media .A writers perspective.
Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed is currently Associate Professor and head of TV, Film and Theater (TFT) Department in Beacon House National University. Dr. Syed has done his PHd from Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan. He was also the former director of Lahore Museum, former Associate Professor, Government College University, Lahore and former Senior Faculty, FC College, Lahore Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed will talk about the critical role that writers should play in peace and reconciliation process.
