but Cubans didn't have thal
opponunilY. Moreover, we are
not invited to maj or nati onal
or international media events,
even Ihough we have phenom-
enally tale nted people.
Nevertheless. I have learned
a lot. especially in the world
ofproducl ion. I ha\'e worked
with producers, arrangers,
composers, and musicians
who have brought a lot to my
ca re. r. I' ve shared the stage
with ani sls who are now <1tthc
top of the Latin music charts,
and it is a g reat privilege to
have worked and grown to-
gethel- with them.
To be honest. I could never
ever complai n about the pub-
li c that has sLOod by me in
the United States, much less
Illy Cuban fans. and that also
includes my Colombian. Peru-
vian. and Ve nezuelan publics.
They have adopted me on the
"enchaI1led isla nd" (Puerto
Rico) as one of their own.
I've gained another couI1lry,
but I believe that my greatest
achic,emcnt has been walch-
ing my children grow up with-
out losing their identity.

saber que el tren avanza primero sabre la cumbre angosta de una
montana de coral y que cabalgara luego sobre las aguas, parece
cos a de hadas. Como las hadas no existen, solo un hombre como
el multimillonario Henry Flagler, aseguran especialistas, fue capaz
de una empresa como esa que extendiala via ferrea hasta Miami y
desde alii, de isleta en isleta, la lIeva hasta Cayo Hueso para conec-
tar as; con Cuba, el resto del Caribe y el Canal de Panama. Mercan-
cias y pasajeros salian de Nueva York en tren y tardaban dos dias en
arribar al Cayo, donde un servicio de enormes Jerry-boQts, en una
