Our Class Mission

We will come to school to learn and meet new friends. We will be proactive and become better leaders by using the Covey Habits. Our class will have fun, reach out to others, and love with full hearts.

Greetings families, This week has been crazy! I hope that you were able to enjoy the days off from school and that your children had the opportunity to play in the snow! We have many exciting events coming up. Tuesday night (tomorrow night) is Family Leadership Night. Youre invited to come into our classrooms to see how our Green community has and will continue to apply the leadership principles of Dr. Covey. Wednesday is our Math Luncheon at 10:40, which will be similar to our Literacy Luncheon that we held a while back. Youre invited to stay and eat lunch with your child afterwards. Im excited for you to come and see how math looks in our classroom so that you can better support the students at home!

The Week Ahead

Reading: We will be focusing on fluency in our reading this week. We will reread texts after all of the hard work of decoding is finished and practice reading in a storytelling voice. Letterland: We are working with words that contain consonant blends at the end of words. The children should have mastered these words by now with the snow days! Writing: We will continue our All About writing unit. The All About MLK Writings turned out great! Now students will choose their own topics to write about. Math: Students will sort and identify shapes such as squares, rectangles, triangles, and quarter circles. We will introduce 3 dimensional shapes such as cylinders, cones, and rectangular prisms. Science: We will sort rocks by characteristics. Social Studies: We will understand the differences between goods and services. Also, we will learn about different African American leaders for Black History month.
