Your tour will start at (08:30) by visiting the alabaster mosque of Mohammed Ali which is built inside the citadel
of Saladin all atop a lime stone hill over looking the city. the alabaster mosque is considered one of the greatest
symbols of Islamic architecture in Cairo, still used until now as a place of worship and is built out of alabaster as
well as lime stone taken from the pyramids of Giza, inside that mosque, which open its doors for visitors of all
faiths, your guide will introduce you to the basis of Islam as well as explaining to you about the mosque itself.
Legend has it that Salah ad-Din chose the site for its healthy air. The story goes that he hung pieces of meat up
all around Cairo. The meat spoilt within a day everywhere except in the Citadel area, where it remained fresh
for several days. Your next destination will be towards the mosque and madrasa (school) of sultan Hassan, one
of the best examples of Islamic architecture in Egypt (some archaeologists like to call it the pyramid of Islamic
architecture in Egypt). The mosque was built between 1356 and 1363 AD; it is also considered one of the
largest, not only in Cairo but in the whole Islamic world, measuring some 492 feet (150 meters) long and 118
feet (36 meters) high. The highest minaret is 223 feet (68 meters) tall.
Your final destination will be towards khan el-khalili bazaar where you can have a walk in one of the most
famous open air markets in the middle east , there you can learn the art of haggling , and enjoy all the
wonderful Egyptian made souvenirs .
At the end of the day you will be returned back to your hotel around (15:30).
