r|nc|pa|'s Message
It is hard to believe we finished our 100
th

day of school (Jan. 30) and are nearing the
end of the second trimester (Feb. 27)! We
would like to thank all of our volunteers who
have contributed so much to our schools
learning and activities this past term. From
our Parent Career Day to our Arts Through
the Ages volunteers to the daily classroom
support we see from volunteers who assist
our classes in a variety of ways, we send
you all a hearty thank you for your time
and efforts.

January proved to be a busy month here at
Draper. In tandem with our instructional
initiatives, students in
Grades 4 and 5
participated in our
school Geography Bee
and Science Fair. Our
Geography Bee winner,
Ellie Whitehead, will be
moving on to our district bee, our Science
Fair winners, McKay Larsen, Ethan Krantz,
Chase Rossum, Chase Ashton, and Sydney
Parkinson will be moving on to the district
fair. Speaking of award winning entries, our
own Noah Stika took first place at the
district Reflections art contest in the film
category. His entry will be moving on to the
state competition. These are just a few
examples of the excellence our Draper
students demonstrate on a regular basis
way to go, Dragons!

We are also looking forward to our
schoolwide Chinese New year cultural
celebration assembly on Feb. 11, and our
classroom Valentine Parties on Tuesday,
Feb. 14. The students always enjoy the
planned activities and treats! I extend a
heartfelt thanks to our Room Parents and
the numerous parents who will help make
these parties special for our students!

The week of Feb 18-21 is Blue and White
Ribbon Week, which highlights the
importance of appropriate use of
technology, internet safety, and anti-
bullying. PTA will help us emphasize these
ideals with our students, as we continue to
monitor and encourage our students to be
safe, kind, and responsible in all they say
and do.

Report cards will be sent home March 3

in
preparation for our Parent-Teacher (SEP)
Conferences held March 4

and 6. Thank you
for all that you do to support your child and
our schools efforts it is this continuing
partnership between home and school that
makes the success of our students possible.

When a student account has a deficit, we will send weekly
computer-generated paper notices
home with the student.
When an account accrues $10 or more
in the negative, we (Mrs. Dahl) will
send weekly emails to the parent as a
reminder.
When an account accrues $15 or more in the negative, we
(Mrs. Dahl or Mrs. Riddle) will make phone calls home.
At no point will we deny a child lunch. We will continue to make
every effort to make contact with the parents to get the account paid
in full.
