WATER FILTERS
Average American household consumption of clean water: 375 gallons per day Average Tanzanian family consumption of highly polluted water: 14 gallons per day (drinking, cooking, washing) Poor pathogenic removal could be due to many things, namely operation and maintenance.
Moving the filter. Shaking or disturbing the filter. Damaging the biolayer. Feeding the filter with inconsistent source waters without giving it adequate time to acclimate (roughly 3-4 weeks). Allowing the filters to dry out or not using them frequently enough. Not dosing the filters with the correct volume at correct times each day. Too high of turbidity levels in influent waters.
