31
The sequence control method is defined by the instrumentation code for PMX-4.
(Pump controller, single-pump system chiller controller: Sequential control by flow load, Dual-pump
system chiller controller: Sequential control by energy load)

The sequence control has three methods; "control by flow", "control by energy", and "control by
temperature", these control methods can be changed.

3.1 How to change the method to control by energy, flow

1) Sequence control method change
Change the 45th record on the basic parameter.

Data Setter Operation
Access to the 45th record on (), and enter (: Energy, : Flow) then click
.

PC-MMI Operation

Keep the service tool opened, select "Search - NC-BUS search" and search PMX-4.

Select PMX-4 and right-click the mouse and select "Basic data" or select "Basic data" from the
menu bar.

Select "FIX Changeover", enter (0: Energy, 1: Flow) on the 45th record.

2) Change the point parameter IPD
Change the point IPD of "**Start load", "Decrease criteria", "Operating unit total capacity", "Heating
capacity", and "Cooling capacity". Set [m
3
/h or L/min] for flow, [GJ/h or MJ/h] for energy.
After the change operation, perform BESS error check.

3. Sequence Control Method Change
(Flow/Energy/Supply Water Temp.) - only Chiller Controller -
Chapter 2 Engineering Work Associated with Operation Change
AB-7118_Rev.0.0 PARAMATRIX4 Pump/Chiller Controller Parameter Description
32
3.2 How to change the method to control by temperature

The sequence control by temperature is attained by:
- Increase adjustment by the supply water temperature
- Decrease adjustment by the return water temperature. By applying dummy load (chiller total capacity)
to the sequence control load, units adjustment control by the supply/return water temperature is enabled.

1) Control parameter change
Change the MAX global parameter of panel 8 (sequence control load) as -1=>59999.
For the details, refer to "Chapter 3, 12. Panel 8 Sequence Control Load (Flow 1 system) <Item001>", "Chapter
3, 13. Panel 8 Sequence Control Load (Energy 1 system) <Item002>", "Chapter 3, 14. Panel 8 Sequence
Control Load (Energy 4 system) <Item003>", "Chapter 3, 15. Panel 8 Sequence Control Load (Flow 1 system)
<Item004>".

3.3 Notes

Sequence control method of the pump controller can't be changed.
Sequence control change to temperature can be done for the chiller controller (Single-pump/
Dual-pump).
However, performance of the sequence control by temperature will be degraded when number of unit
increases, so the number of unit should be limited to 2 or 3.If many units are installed, perform the
sequence control with a flow meter equipped.
The sequence control by energy for the single-pump system chiller controller is disabled at the site
where there is less temperature difference since it may cause insufficient flow.
The dual-pump system chiller controller can be changed to the sequence control by flow.
If it is decided to adopt the flow control before ordering, it is better to order the single-pump system
chiller controller because of less engineering works.

Chapter 2 Engineering Work Associated with Operation Change
AB-7118_Rev.0.0 PARAMATRIX4 Pump/Chiller Controller Parameter Description
33
Configuration of the upper communication is defined by the instrumentation code for PMX-4.
When a central station is installed at the site where the upper communication is not implemented, in
order to connect the PMX-4 to the system, the settings of PMX-4 can be changed from "Upper
communication not implemented" to "Implemented" at the site.
In this case, if number of Thermal Source (pump) or control details is to be changed, customization is
required because the changes can not be applied at the site. (Only the configuration of the upper
communication can be changed from "Not implemented" to "Implemented".)

4.1 How to change the settings

The configuration change from "Upper communication not implemented" to "Implemented" is as follows.

1) Change the Point type, UPS setting, and No batch restoration
allowed
Check the configuration of the upper communication is "Not implemented" or "Implemented" with the
instrumentation sheet, and change the Point type, UPS setting, and No batch restoration allowed.
The change point is "Night mode" and "Cooling mode".
After the change operation, assign IO, and then perform BESS error check

2) Change the group command settings
The usage of the group command differs according to the configuration of the upper communication "Not
implemented" or "Implemented".(Not implemented: use it as DI, Implemented: use it as Dummy COP)
As shown in this chapter, "1. Group Command Usage Change", change the operation pattern { => Q.
For the details, refer to "Chapter 2, 1. Group Command Usage Change".

Set the "Group command DI(PT2)" as ASN => DEL.
Set the Group command OI operation Enable/Disable as Disable => Enable.
Change the Upper connection information (1BS41) 1: No => 0: Yes.

3) Change power failure related parameter
To detect power failure status from the power feeding signal from the upper system, set the followings.
Power supply input setting
Change 1BS37: 17 (Power failure detection by point) => 0 (Power failure detection by power supply
signal from the upper controller)
Power restoration delay time
Change 1BS38: 15 => 0 (Upper communication is implemented)

Chiller's capacity may change
according to the cooling water
temperature. Hi limit is set to
show how the maximum
capacity of the Thermal Source
is greater than the rated
capacity. When the Hi limit is set
to 20%, it means that the
maximum capacity of the
Thermal Source is 120% of the
rated capacity. However, it is not
required to consider the capacity
change when the sequence
control load is flow, so the Hi
limit is set to "0".

The value is to set the available capacity
of the Thermal Source is how much
lower than the rated capacity in the
worst environmental condition. When
the load is between the Hi limit and the
Lo limit, the capacity adjustment request
by temperature can be accepted.
If the sequence control decrease
point calculation method is
(LP:013(NJP))=1, the Lo limit ratio
is set equal to the Differential, it is
not required to set the Lo limit
ratio.

Set: 1410 (23 x 60 min + 30 min = 1410)
(0: Forced rotation is disabled, at 1440:24 (0:00 AM),
1440 or more is regarded as 1440.)
Q and , can be changed by LP:12 (CRT).
MIN unit 1 Minimum number of operating units (0 - 12)
TON sec 30
Sequential start time (0 - 15300)
Interval of start command the to Thermal Sources that are
recovered from power failure simultaneously.
TOF sec 30
Sequential stop time (0 - 15300)
Interval of stop command to the Thermal Sources that are
ordered to stop simultaneously.
TWW sec 0
Water round time (0 - 15300)
Set the time in which water goes round in the pipe.
TIM min 0
Failure auto reset time (0 - 1440)
Send OFF command to the failed Thermal Source after
the preset time (Failure auto reset time) has passed and
reset the alarm automatically. This function can't be used
for the Thermal Sources that don't have the failure reset
function by OFF command. When it is set as "0", reset
manually.
When point type is changed from CAPf to CAPl and then
the thermal source (pump) is recovered form failure status,
the thermal source may start automatically. To avoid the
automatic start, set this parameter.
TIC sec 0
Increase notice time (0 - 15300)
The interval time between when the increase command is
issued and when the Thermal Source receives the startup
command actually.
ABP GJ/H 59999
ON/OFF simultaneous process (59999 - 59999)
According to the difference of ON/OFF simultaneous
process, change the value. If ON priority process is
adopted, set a positive number (can be set as default). If
OFF priority process is adopted, set to -1. The ON/OFF
simultaneous process can be changed by this setting. "0"
is regarded as a positive number.

The operation method of the
decrease limit and Low limit
ratio can be changed by this
parameter. High limit ratio is
always calculated by the total
of rated capacity of the ON
equipments. If "0" is
selected, the Differential and
the Low limit ratio can be set
separately. However if "1" is
selected, only the Differential
can be set, and make the
Low limit ratio = Differential.

<< General >>
When Forced OFF DI is activated, Thermal Source equipments are stopped forcibly. Then the
substitute equipments are ON after the waiting effect time has passed. Also while in waiting
effect status after the Forced OFF DI was disabled, then the waiting effect time has passed,
sequence control will be performed. Therefore this panel enables to follow the load variance
while in the waiting effect by doing ON/OFF decision when the Forced OFF DI status is
changed.
