First Sundays Adult RE. In 2014, Bruce Allen is going to lead Adult RE from 9:45am to 10:40am on the first Sunday of each month in 2014. We will meet in our newly refurbished sofa room. We are going to start by using Marcus Borg's Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time to consider the meaning of the life of Jesus of Nazareth (as understood from Dr. Borg's perspective on the historical Jesus, rather than from the perspective of the Christ of faith from a traditional Christian perspective). Of course, the goal of this venture is to see how a fresh perspective on Jesus relates to and possibly enriches each of our unique UU faith journeys. If you have any questions, please email Bruce Allen at bruce.allen@uuwaco.org . February 1. Guest at Your Table kicks off this Sunday, Feb 2. It is an annual tradition in which we invite a "guest" at our home tables for four weeks, and donate the cost of their "meal" daily to the UUSC drive. Each Sunday we learn about one person with whom UUSC is working. This year, we are featuring people who have empowered others to realize their human rights. Let's share our blessings with them. Meals on Wheels: Every Wednesday and Friday. POC: Cheryl Foster, cheryl.foster@uuwaco.org February 10. Reading Circle. 6:30 PM. Contact Cheryl Foster at Cheryl.foster@uuwaco.org for more information.

Social Action Opportunities:

A Talitha Koum child has lost her home, her bed, her clothes, her toys and books. But not her bunny, Blackie.
Dear Friends, You might have heard about Blackies rescue on the news ~ a pet bunny resuscitated. Less has been said about the loss of all material comforts to this family, which includes a toddler in our Talitha Koum Nurture Center program. A faulty wall outlet was the source of the fire, it appears. This family has begun to recover and has received help that allowed them to relocate, but to an empty house. Some donations have arrived. Please see the list for what is still needed. Mom has steady employment, but at minimum wage and also helps to care for her own mother who was disabled in an automobile accident. If you would like to join in helping this family, please contact Susan Cowley at susan@cowleygroup.com. With many thanks for much that you already do for so many. Items needed: Couch, Queen Bed, Full Bed, Youth Bed, Silverware, Bed Linens, Towel Sets, Gas Dryer, Microwave, Silverware, Dinette Set, Toys and Books for 2 year-old, Pampers in size 4, Walker shoe (size 5). Please make contact with Mrs. Cowley to confirm that the family still needs an item and to arrange delivery.

March 1, 2014. 7:00 11:30 PM. Boots on the Brazos. A fundraising event for ARC
of McLennan County featuring music, dancing, raffles, and a barbecue dinner! See attached flyer for more details.

Your Guide to Leadership and Other Important Information at UUFW

UUFW RIGHT RELATIONS The members of UUWaco covenant to be in right relations with one another, and our true covenant is shown by our actions. Please feel free to speak with a board member if you have concerns about the Fellowship. If your concern involves activities which are potentially unsafe or illegal, please contact a member of the Board immediately. Need help resolving a conflict at UU? 1. First, try to work it out respectfully with the person(s) in question. 2. If that fails, report the issue to the team lead in charge of the area ( e.g., religious education, social action, etc.). 3. If the conflict is still unresolved, report it to any member of the Board and request resolution via the Right Relations Team. 4. The Board will create an ad hoc Right Relations Team (generally comprised of a small selection of non-conflicted Board members) to review and respond to the issues raised. Non-board members and/or outside persons may be included as appropriate. 5. Every effort will be made to create a Right Relations team agreeable to all parties.
