Whats that called?

! In this chapter I will show you some basic pictures about tennis and tell you about different shots. ! This is a picture of a serve. When you serve you always hit the ball without letting it bounce on the court before you even hit it. You hit the ball above your head. You start with holding the ball in your left hand, if you are right handed. Then you throw the ball up in the air. Your right hand make a swing and then hits the ball. The higher you hit the ball the better your serve is. Your feet are not allowed to touch the base line. If they do, it is a foot-fault. ! ! There are 4 different shots in the serve. One of them is at. Flat is a serve that has no spin. It is a very powerful serve. It is the most accurate serve out of all of them four. Then there is slice. A lot of people slice the second serve very much. Slice is when the ball has the side spin. That is a good thing because the ball curves really much. Then if you are serving to the left serving area, it curves out of the court. The other player runs to the ball. Then you have the whole court empty. It is a very precise serve which also is safe. There is also kick. Kick is a serve that when you hit the ball after the bounce it bounces up really high. That kind of serve is very uncomfortable for the other player. Then there is twist. Twist

is a combination of slice and kick. The last two serves are very hard to learn. ! There is also is a shot called backhand. There are so many possibilities of hitting backhand. The most common ones are the one handed backhand and the two handed backhand. Then you also have the backhand slice the backhand drop shot etc. Most of the professional women tennis players play the two handed backhand. They play the two handed backhand because they want to have more power. Men also play the two handed backhand. But not all of them. Most of the times man play the one handed backhand and the two handed backhand. ! This is a photo of a one handed backhand. When you play the one handed backhand, at rst you hold the racket in two hands. If you are right handed your left hand is near the shaft. The shaft is the the part where the frame starts. You make the swing a little bit backwards. Then right before you are about to hit the ball your left hand lets go of the racket. The right hand hits the ball. Stanislas Wawrinka (The player on the photo) and Roger Federer, are know for having the nicest one-handed backhand. ! Almost none of the professional women use the one-handed backhand a really lot. Most of the women play the two-handed backhand because, they want to have much more power.

This is a photo of a two-handed backhand played by Novak Djokovi". When you want to play the two-handed backhand. This photo is showed in four steps. First you run to the ball and make a swing with both of your hands. Your shoulder stays looking in front of you. Your left foot is in front of your right foot. After you make the swing you let your racket follow down and hit the ball. If you want to play topspin which means hitting the ball with a really lot of spin. When you play topspin the ball on the other court jumps up really high. If you want to play topspin you let your wrist snap the ball with pulling your racket more upwards, but still letting the racket go a little forward. ! Another shot is called forehand. Forehand is the opposite of backhand but played just with one hand. Only about 1% of professional right handed tennis players play a two-handed forehand. When you play forehand your feet can be in 2 different positions. The rst position is the closed position. When you play the closed position your left foot is at the front. You make a swing up high. Sort of like a half circle to the backwards. Then if you want to play topspin your wrist snaps up and you nish with your right hand on your left shoulder. Just like in the two-backhand but there you nish with both of your hands on your right shoulder. It is much easier to play topspin in the forehand than in the backhand. The second position is the closed position. Everything is the same except your feet. Your feet are in the same line. Your

stomach is facing forward. So is your head. The swing and the hit is the same.
