LIS TREE PLANTING PROJECT

PURPOSE To purpose budget for the preparation of the above event. BACKGROUND LIS Tree Planting Project is a special programme which will be implemented for the first time by our School. This Project is scheduled to be held after the first term school holidays. The objective of this project is create awareness among our students of the threats of environmental instability and global warming happening to our mother earth. By getting involved in this project, participation of the young generation would be increased and thus, students would play their role towards the preservation of nature and the world now and in the future and would continue to give their support towards all green projects worldwide. Tree planting is the process of transplanting tree seedlings, generally for forestry, land reclamation, or landscaping purposes. This project also serves as a platform for learning the issues related to a greener world without pollution and global warming.

OBJECTIVES The main objective of this programme is to increase students and public awareness and, education on the importance of tree planting and conservation of natural forest resources for sustainable production of wood and non-wood products, as well as for environmental protection. Other objectives of the LIS Tree Planting Day programme include the following; To encourage youths participation especially LIS students in environmental issues such as global warming. To link young people and stake holders together and create an avenue for interactions. To beautify the school environment so as to support conducive and safe learning environment.

DATE AND IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD 1. Tentative date is 19 APRIL 2013

PLACE Venue : Labuan International School grounds BUDGET We had requested quotation from two suppliers. However, only one supplier able to fully quoted for all requested plants. In this regards, we would like to recommended Green Cottage Landscape ( GCL ) to be appointed as our supplier. In addition, GCL is a well-known company for landscape in Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan and Kota Kinabalu We would also like to propose to utilize the RM 5.3 million budget to finance this project as part of the landscape expenses for LIS.
