NEW YEARS RESOLUTION FOR BETTER ME

Invention and history of New Years resolution
Resolution is also defined as being firm and determined in English. When someone decides to start doing something good or stop doing something bad at the beginning of the year, it is called New Years resolution. It is a promise that we make to ourselves, a to-do-list for better us in the upcoming year.

When and where New Years resolution began?

New Years Eve is commonly thought as a time of rebirth, the chance to start anew. Even in the oldest traditions, it was a custom to make improvements at such time. The ancient Babylonians made promises to their gods at the start of each year that they would return borrowed objects and pay their debts. The Romans began each year by making promises to the god Janus, for whom the month of January is named. With the development of modern society, our habits evolve in the higher level, where they not only make wish or promise with grit but also list out in the paper by themselves. Modern New Years resolution is secular convention in nature. However, the custom has spiritual roots. A popular belief of the New Year makes it the rebirth of life in spring after winter. This was supposed to motivate the person to do better the following year. Therefore, a resolution at this time may have symbolized the purification of the spirit. New years resolution is only the plan on paper. It really needs the courage and the grit to make it happen.
