History and Prophecy of Our Lady of Fatima

Our Lady of Fatima appeared to Lucy, Jacinta and Francisco. She gave them a message to be delivered to the faithful everywhere. God worked a very great miracle before more than 70,000 people at Fatima on October 13, 1917, so that all people would listen to His Mother's pressing appeal. She came to Fatima out of Her maternal concern for us, Her children, but if we ignore Her, then terrible things will happen. Many souls will go to hell forever - and all of us on earth will be enslaved in a worldwide prison of Communism. If we listen - true peace will be given to the world and many souls will merit eternal happiness in Heaven. Our Lady of Fatima said that people must stop sinning and return to God. She told us we must pray the Rosary every day and that we must fulfill the duties of our state in life day by day. Our Lady said: "Many souls go to hell because they have no one to pray for them and make sacrifices for them. If you do what I tell you, many souls will be saved and there will be peace." Let us also remember She said: "If My requests are granted, Russia will be converted and there will be peace. If My requests are not granted, Russia will spread its errors throughout the world, raising up wars and persecutions against the Church. Many will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer - several nations will be annihilated." Sister Lucy of Fatima is left on earth to explain the message of Our Lady of Fatima to the world. She has stated clearly that if we do not heed Our Lady's requests then Communism will enslave the whole world.

Fatima and Pope John Paul II

The authenticity and urgency of Mary's Message was emphasized by Pope John Paul II when he went to Fatima on May 13, 1982. There the Holy Father said that Mary's Message of Fatima: "is still more relevant than it was 65 years ago. It is still more urgent. And so it is to be the subject of next year's Synod of Bishops which we are already preparing for." At the same time Pope John Paul II spoke of "the almost apocalyptic menaces looming over the nations and mankind as a whole." And so at Fatima His Holiness prayed to Our Lady of Fatima: "From nuclear war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us." In the same homily, the Pope further explained: "Can the Mother who with all the force of the love that She fosters in the Holy Spirit and desires everyone's salvation keep silence on what undermines the very bases of their salvation? No, She cannot.

"And so, while the message of Our Lady of Fatima is a motherly one, it is also strong and decisive. It sounds severe. It sounds like John the Baptist speaking on the banks of the Jordan. It invites to repentance. It gives a warning. It calls to prayer. It recommends the Rosary. The message is addressed to every human being."

The Peace Pledge

In answer to the question: "What must the individual Catholic do in order that peace be given to the world, Communism be turned back, and the annihilation of nations be averted?" Sister Lucy gave the following Peace Pledge Formula: Dear Queen and Mother, who promised at Fatima to convert Russia and bring peace to all mankind, in reparation to Your Immaculate Heart for my sins and the sins of the whole world, I solemnly promise: 1) To offer up every day the sacrifices demanded by my daily duty; 2) To say part of the Rosary (five decades) daily while meditating on the mysteries; 3) To wear the Scapular of Mt. Carmel as profession of this promise and as an act of consecration to You. I shall renew this promise often, especially in moments of temptation. * Signature __________________________________ (This pledge is not a vow and does not bind under pain of sin. Nevertheless it is a promise - your word given to your Heavenly Mother.) * Note: Baptized Catholics may be officially enrolled in the Scapular to gain the Scapular promise. A non-Catholic may wear the Brown Scapular and will receive blessings for doing so. Padre Pio, the stigmatic priest, said that when enough people fulfill this pledge then Our Lady of Fatima will convert Russia and She will bring true peace to the world.
