COMMUNICATING ACROSS CULTURES AT WORK 3RD EDITION COMPANION WEBSITE INTRODUCTION This website is intended to support lecturers and

d trainers in teaching this important area of study. Educators will be aware that because this subject area was new when the 1st edition was published, I made decisions on what to include and what to exclude, both in the text and on this website; decisions which would not be required in a more established subject area. I would be grateful for feedback that may guide my future choices as well as contributions based on others lived experience both as teachers and practitioners. My contact details are given below.

1. This manual is mainly divided into chapters corresponding to the nine chapters of the text. Later sections give a suggested course outline, case/role play scenarios and powerpoint slides for using the book to support teaching. 2. Each of the nine chapters which correspond to a chapter of the text contains three sections: a. Answers to the questions and comments on the exercises b. Extra questions and exercises c. Extra material and comments on the text. 3. Answers to the questions and comments on the exercises: In most cases I have only provided answers where more is expected of the student than just showing a knowledge of the text. I also omit answers to some discussion questions where the process, rather than the outcome, is important; and to questions where the students personal experience is the issue. 4. Extra questions I am aware that it is sometimes helpful to lecturers to have available questions that students have not had access to. I hope those I have provided will be useful. 5. Extra material and comments on the text. I have provided a selection of extra material for two reasons. First, the subjects that underpin this field are generating large amounts of new research. This website is an opportunity for me to overcome the effects of the inevitable time lag between my research for the text and its publication. Second, because the field is so new, there is a paucity of other texts for lecturers to refer to; thus supplementary material is more useful than it would be in a more established field. In this 3rd edition I have also included some of the material from earlier editions which had to be omitted to make space for new coverage, but which remains, in my view, of interest and use. I have linked most of the additional material to particular sentences in the text, indicating which sentence by underlining. Where the link is to a heading, I have emboldened and underlined it.
