Tarapoto

Tarapoto is the largest city in the Department of San Martin (capital Moyobamba) in Peru at approximately 350 metres above sea level and has a hot tropical climate Tarapoto offers the tourist and businessman a variety of comfortable hotels and hostels as well as recreation and activity centres in Tarapoto and the surrounding area, including the wellequipped Puerto Palmeras resort and adventure holiday center just outside the city. There are attractive areas of countryside close at hand where you can see the flora and fauna of the area and waterfalls. There are opportunities for adventure expeditions including white water rafting and canoeing trips. Local crafts and souvenirs are on sale often making use of attractive jungle resources such as exotic seeds, feathers, coconut shells and straw as well as gifts made with Peruvian silver, gold and other precious stones. There is also of course a wide variety of local food and dishes, locally-produced alcoholic drinks such as uvachado (made with grapes and aguardiente) the medicinal siete raices (made with medicinal tree roots and barks) and chuchuhuasi. Local folklore is well represented and of special interest is the native community of Lamas and the ethnic museum there. This is approximately 30 minutes by car from Tarapoto. Tarapoto is also a set off point for tours of the North East of Peru and Amazon. Access is via a 60 minute plane flight from Lima with Star Peru, Lan Peru y Wayra Peru (once or twice a day), or by road (approximately 24 hours, depending on coach company and the conditions of the new asphalt road which now goes all the way from Lima to Tarapoto). The best months for a first visit to Tarapoto are probably between June and October when there is little rain.

Lamas - Folk Capital of the Peruvian Amazon

Lamas is located only 22 km. Tarapoto city called "City of Three Flats" by Antonio Raimondi. Lamas is divided into two sections, the lower section Wayku and mestizos, top. Natives are admired by neighborhood Wayku preserve and conserve intact their ancient customs, including dress, their costumes. Lamas are natives of Andean origin and Quechua-speaking and are cheerful and welcoming nature. Their clothes are made by themselves and dyed with natural dyes or fruit feeding is also based on what nature produces. The patron saint of Santa Rosa in the neighborhood Wayku ( Amazonian Andean village ) starts from 23 to 31 August. The whole town wears colorful costumes and crosses the city in time to dynamic and exotic sounds of their traditional instruments . This is a festival of joy that is shared with visitors .

Tarapoto, "Ciudad de las Palmeras", es la ciudad ms grande del departamento de San Martn cuya capital es Moyobamba. Se encuentra a unos 350 m.s.n.m y tiene un clima tropical. Tarapoto ofrece una variedad de hoteles y hostales en la ciudad y alrededores para el turista y el negociante, incluyendo Puerto Palmeras Resort con su centro de esparcimiento y centro de turismo de aventura a pocos minutos de la ciudad de Tarapoto. Hay paisajes hermosos y cataratas cerca de la ciudad, donde puede deleitarse de la flora y fauna de la regin. Se puede disfrutar de turismo de aventura, canotaje, white water rafting, expediciones y caminatas. Posee una variedad de artesana y recuerdos en venta, muchas veces utilizando recursos atractivos de la selva como semillas exticas, plumas, coco y paja. Adems hay adornos y artesana de plata y oro peruana y otras piedras preciosas. Tiene una gran variedad de comida tpica, platos regionales, tragos exticos y licores regionales, como el uvachado (a base de uvas y aguardiente), siete races (trago medicinal a base de races de rboles y agua ardiente) y chuchuhuasi. El folklore es bien representado e incluye la comunidad nativa de Lamas y su museo tnico. Lamas se encuentra aproximadamente a 30 minutos de Tarapoto en auto. Tarapoto es un punto de partida del circuito turstico nor-oriental hacia El acceso es por avin desde la capital de Lima (45 minutos) con Star Per, Lan Per y Wayra Per (uno o dos veces por da) o por tierra (aproximadamente 24 horas en bus dependiendo de la compaa de transporte y las condiciones de la nueva carretera que ahora llega a Tarapoto desde Lima.) Los mejores meses para una primera visita son probablemente los meses entre Junio y Octubre donde hay poca lluvia.

Lamas - Capital Folclrica de la Amazona Peruana

Lamas est ubicada a solo 22 km. de la ciudad de Tarapoto, llamada "Ciudad de los Tres Pisos" por Antonio Raimondi. Lamas se halla dividido en dos sectores; el barrio Wayku parte baja y el de los mestizos, parte alta. Los nativos de barrio Wayku son admirados por preservar y conservar intacto sus antiguas costumbres, inclusive la vestimenta, sus trajes tpicos. Los nativos de Lamas son de origen andino y quechua hablante y son por naturaleza alegres y acogedores. Sus vestimentas son confeccionadas por ellos mismos y teidos con tintes naturales o de frutos igualmente su alimentacin es a base de lo que la naturaleza produce. La fiesta patronal de Santa Rosa en el Barrio Wayku (pueblo andino amaznico), empieza desde el 23 hasta el 31 de agosto. El pueblo entero se viste de coloridas vestimentas y recorre la ciudad al comps de dinmicos y exticos sonidos de sus instrumentos tpicos. Esta es una fiesta de alegria que es compartida con los visitantes.
