Vision & Values Making it Happen


This document outlines the skills, values and qualities we want children to leave Parklands with. We have taken this vision and planned activities during the year which will help us to work towards achieving these outcomes for our pupils. We aim for children to Develop the best possible English and Maths skills to prepare for the world beyond. Action to achieve this Continuous improvement in the quality of teaching and learning resulting from collaboration between teaching staff, development of teaching assistant team and support from other professionals. Improved tracking systems to quickly identify under-performance. Best value use of additional human and financial resources, including Pupil Premium. Teaching strategies used efficiently, such as talk for writing and increased focus on using and applying in Mathematics. Creative use of technology such as the school blog to motivate and raise achievement. Developing whole school codes of conduct for behaviour in and around school. Friendship Week activities with focus on anti-bullying. Embedding relationship with Whetstone Hey. Revised Behaviour Policy under continuous review via Behaviour Working Party to continuously raise standards and expectations. E-Safety Committee developed to raise awareness of staying safe when using all forms of technology. Health & Safety Committee developed. Junior Road Safety officers to support road safety project. Liaise with PCSO regarding input on Stranger Danger. Assembly topics to include variety of people including those with disabilities or from different cultures. Friendship Week & anti bullying activities. Enterprise Week Careers fair Snack Squad role to be developed Pupil forums to be driven to ensure that children have opportunities to make a positive contribution to school life. Residential visits Year 2 & Year 6

Have good manners and respect respect for themselves, respect for others and their property.

Have an awareness of the risks they may face in the word beyond and understand how to keep themselves safe, be tolerant and show compassion for others.

Demonstrate an awareness of their own responsibilities and the contribution they can make to their own community. Possess the skills to be a responsible citizen, including financial and personal management. Show ambition and aspiration have the confidence to

strive to be the best they can be and a willingness to take risks, showing resilience to keep on going despite obstacles they may face. Demonstrate positive independent learning skills and selfmotivation show adaptability and flexibility to solve problems; determination; curiosity and commitment. Show an honest sense of right and wrong, empathy towards others and be accountable for their own actions. Take pride in themselves, their achievements, their community, their aspirations and their talents.

Building Learning Power strategies to be embedded in curriculum review. Learning journals and portfolios of excellence maintained by pupils. Friendship Week Share your talent workshops Development of Maths using and applying strand to embed problem solving skills. Outdoor learning activities including orienteering. Problem solving and team work activities during Friendship Week. Learning Journals maintained by pupils to track their achievements. Development of PSHE provision. Revised Behaviour Policy. Portfolios of excellence maintained by all pupils. Regular awards, including swimming awards. Celebration Assembly Positive management strategies as outlined in the Behaviour Policy. Twitter boards Local issues in assemblies, use of the Our Place resources Local focus built into revised curriculum.
