MEDIA RELEASE Women of the Worlde ready to take on Charters Towers QRRRWN State Conference 2014
The 2014 QRRRWN State Conference is shaping up to be an exciting event filled with positivity, expression and inspiration, with women from across rural, regional and remote Queensland gearing up to meet in Charters Towers from 16th September. Conference convenor and Charters Towers local, Kylie Stretton, says the conferences Women of the Worlde theme is a fitting nod to the heritage of the gold mining town. During the late 1800's/early 1900's Charters Towers was known as "The Worlde" due the cultural diversity of its population. Our Goldfields were the second richest in the country and the Stock Exchange, which was wired to cities around the world, was a constant hive of activity, said Mrs Stretton. This years conference will draw on the themes of positivity, expression and inspiration as it explores a variety of topics from bush blogging and social media to future proofing your farm finances and self development through a number of workshops and presentations. More than 70 submissions for guest speaking spots or workshop facilitator roles have been received from an array of Queensland and interstate presenters. We have been extremely encouraged by the level of interest and the planning committee will now work through the submissions to pull together a good mix of motivating and engaging speakers covering off of on the topics which matter most to rural, regional and remote women, she said. Mrs Stretton said the Charters Towers Regional Council is one of the events major sponsors with the committee keen to see more businesses and organisations come on board. The conference will also provide opportunities for sponsors and businesses to set up trade stalls and information booths.
