Principals Column
Congratulations to our Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders for a fantastic performance at Tuesdays PTO meeting. What a fun time we had singing, playing in the gym and admiring the wonderful artwork our students have created. A very special thank you to all of our related arts teachers for helping to put together this fun evening. I hope you were able to join us for Winterfest and Silent Auction. Another fun evening at LMES! Thank you to our PTO and their wonderful volunteers. Did you make it to the Dance Marathon? It was featured on one of our local television stations. What a fun way to give back to our community! Thank you for making time to make a difference. February is quickly slipping away and March is just around the corner. Please be sure to review the March Parent CalHave a wonderful weekend! endar which was sent home today. Some of the dates may have changed from the calendar you received at the beginning of the year. In March we will continue our STAR testing, MAP testing and the 3rd, 4th & 5th grades will have a PASS Writing test. I know our students will do well. Please help them to do their best by ensuring that they have a good nights rest, a healthy breakfast and arrive to school on time. I am excited about tomorrow. Our 1st graders will be dressing up like Dr. Seuss characters. I wonder which characters will be parading around LMES tomorrow morning?

HOOPS FOR HEART/ JUMP ROPE FOR HEART MARCH 11, 2014 DURING RELATED ARTS TIME On Tuesday March 11, 2014, students will enter the gym for a heart healthy celebration. The students will be doing basketball skills and jump roping skills to upbeat music with all of their classmates. Students look forward to this community service event every year. Every student will be a part of the event. Each child has the opportunity to be a "Heart Hero." Your child can collect donations to support the American Heart Associations during Hoops For Heart/Jump Rope For Heart event. Donations forms will go home today. Parent volunteers are necessary for the event to be a success. The easiest way to collect donations for HFH is by making your own secure donation page. Directions will be included on the donations form. This year students can raise donations and in return get "Thank You" gifts. There are also extra "Thank You" gifts you can earn by collecting donations online. The first gift is a the Quacky duck and lanyard for your first $5 donation. Just tear off the voucher on the back of your donation envelope and get your duck immediately the next day at school. When you collect your first online donation you will receive your NIJA duck. Ducks will be given out in the morning during Fun Fitness time. You must bring your completed voucher to receive your duck. Parent volunteers are needed to hand out ducks every morning and on Hoops For Heart Day. If you can volunteer your time in any of these ways complete the form below or you can go online and cut and paste the address below into your browser. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1lVNTJ9byxtUglx_AxfNX0W0mbjhDWJiHhzmtOF4qiuw/viewform
