Last year, public school teachers spent an average of approximately $500 of their own money to pay for school supplies and instructional materials needed for their student learning. Across the U.S., this added up to more than one billion dollars in teacher out-of-pocket expenses.

The Fuel Your School Program is an innovative approach created by Chevron and DonorsChoose.org to support education for public schools, in certain areas of the country, by helping fund eligible teacher projects, giving them the resources to better engage their students in their educationincluding projects in STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering, and math.

Chevron is making it easy for everyone to help public school students, in certain areas of the country, through the Fuel Your School Program. First, public school teachers at schools located in the programs designated areas submit projects detailing the materials and supplies they need for their classroom projects at DonorsChoose.org. Then, during the month of October, everyone can help

fund eligible classroom projects by filling up with eight or more gallons at participating Chevron or Texaco locations in select markets. Chevron will donate one dollar, up to a certain amount, for each of the programs participating areas.

And then DonorsChoose.org will use Chevrons donations to help fund eligible classroom projects. It all comes down to this: we all want the best education for our kids and Chevrons Fuel Your School Program is supporting education in various communities by helping students get the supplies they need for eligible classroom projects.
