2014 Spring Training: Scheduled to make his first spring start tomorrow vs. the Indians in Goodyear. Did not pitch last season, recovering from Tommy John surgery on his left elbow performed Oct. 30, 2012 by Dr. Lewis Yocum. Last pitched in the Majors in 2012, combining to make 30 appearances (26 starts) with the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles Appeared in 376 games (368 starts) during 14-season Major League career with the Phillies (1999-2006), Dodgers (2007, 2009), Padres (2008), Astros (2008), Brewers (2010-12) and Orioles (2012). 368 starts are 5th-most among active pitchers and 2,268.0 innings pitched are 6th-most. Logged 7 seasons with 30-or-more starts (last: 33 in 2011) and 6 seasons with 200-or-more innings pitched (last: 212.1 IP in 2011). Over a three-season stretch from 2009-2011 with the Dodgers and Brewers, combined to go 37-29 with a 3.70 ERA, while logging at least 200.0 innings and 30 starts in each season. Originally selected by the Phillies in the 2nd round of the 1997 June Draft out of Pepperdine University.

2014 Spring Training: Scheduled to make his first appearance of the spring today. Spent majority of 2013 season with AAA Tacomawas 6-8 with a 5.61 ERA (74 ER, 118.2 IP) in 22 starts. Named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for April 22-28 after taking a no-hitter into the 7th inning April 22 at Las Vegas. Among Mariners minor leaguers ranked 7th in strikeouts (98) and innings pitched (133.2). College teammates with Mariners farmhands John Hicks, Danny Hultzen and Steven Proscia at the University of Virginia. Originally selected by Seattle in the 12th round of the 2009 June Draft out of the University of Virginia.

#97 Joe Beimel (lhp):

2014 Spring Training: Allowed a leadoff double before retiring the next three (43, 63, 9) on 2/27 vs. SD (run scored). Spent last season with AAA Gwinnett in the Atlanta Braves system after signing in May. Did not pitch in 2012 recovering from Tommy John surgery on his left elbow. Last pitched in the Majors in 2011 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Veteran of 11 Major League seasons with the Pirates, Dodgers, Rockies, Twins, Rays and Nationalsappeared in 567 MLB games.

#54 Tom Wilhelmsen (rhp):

2014 Spring Training: Retired all three batters he faced, striking out one on 2/27 vs. SD. Went 0-3 with 24 saves and a 4.12 ERA in 59 appearances in 2013 in his third Major League season. Recorded 24 saves before moving into middle relief role in early August. Ranks 8th in Mariners history with 53 career saves. Opened season 11-for-11 in save opportunities with a 0.50 ERA (1 ER, 18.0 IP) April 1-May 16, but posted a 5.71 ERA (26 ER, 41.0 IP) with 28 walks in 42 appearances beginning with first blown save May 20 at Cleveland. With AAA Tacoma from Aug. 5-31, going 0-1, 10.50 ERA in 8 G.

#44 Lucas Luetge (lhp):

2014 Spring Training: Struck out two in 1.0 ShO frame on 2/27 vs. SD (1 BB). Went 1-3 with a 4.86 ERA (20 ER, 37.0 IP) in 35 games over three stints with the Mariners last season. Went 0-0 with 1 save and a 4.35 ERA (15 ER, 31.0 IP) in 22 games with AAA Tacoma. In two Major League seasons (2012-13), held left-handed batters to a .219 batting average with 4 extra-base hits. Acquired by Seattle from Milwaukee in the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 8, 2011originally selected by Milwaukee in the 21st round of the 2008 June Draft out of Rice University.

#80 Jonathan Arias (rhp):

2014 Spring Training: Scheduled to make his first appearance of the spring today. Split last season between AA Jackson and AAA Tacoma, appearing in 44 games (2 starts). Averaged 10.35 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched (92 strikeouts, 80.0 IP) between AA and AAA. During minor league career (159 appearances) has averaged 9.82 K/9.0 IP. Played his first three pro seasons (2006-2008) as a catcher before making pitching debut in 2009.

#38 Logan Bawcom (rhp):

2014 Spring Training: Scheduled to make his first appearance of the spring today. Spent the entire 2013 season with AAA Tacoma posting a 2.91 ERA and 21 saves in 51 games. Led all Mariners minor leaguers with 21 saves (in 24 opportunities)named the Tacoma Rainiers Pitcher of the Year. Posted 47 saves over last two seasons (2012-2013), trailing only Jose Valdez (DET) for the minor league lead over that span. Acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers with Leon Landry (of) in exchange for Brandon League (rhp) on July 30, 2012. Played college baseball at the University of Texas-Arlington.

#40 Danny Farquhar (rhp):

2014 Spring Training: Retired all three batters he faced on 2/27 vs. SD, striking out one. Converted 16 of 18 save opportunities after moving into closer role Aug. 3 at Baltimore, tying for 3rd-most in the Majors behind Greg Holland (19) and Craig Kimbrel (18) during that span. Retired 21 consecutive batters July 28-Aug. 7, tied for the 4th-longest streak by a relief pitcher in club history. Averaged 12.77 K/9.0 IP (79 K, 55.2 IP) to set a club record by a relief pitcher, and rank 4th among AL relievers. Recorded 79 strikeouts, 2nd-most by a rookie reliever in club history (Enrique Romo, 92 in 1977)strikeout rate of 12.77 K/9.0 IP was highest by a rookie in club history. Recorded 11 saves in August, T2nd-most in a month in club historytrailed only 13 saves by Kazuhiro Sasaki (April 2001), and tied the 11 saves by J.J. Putz (June 2007) and Norm Charlton (September 1995). Allowed 2 HR in 46 appearancesended the season not allowing a HR in final 36.1 IP. Acquired by Seattle from New York (AL) as part of trade for Ichiro Suzuki on July 23, 2012.

2014 Spring Training: Made spring debut in relief on 2/27 vs. SD, tossing 2.0 shutout frames (1H, 1 BB, 1 K). Had two separate stints with the Mariners, April 1-30 and June 6-July 11, appearing in 12 games, 2 starts. Went 0-1 with a 5.28 ERA (17 ER, 29.0 IP) in 10 relief appearances and 0-1 with an 8.44 ERA (10 ER, 10.2 IP) in 2 startshad never appeared in a game in relief in his pro or amateur career prior to 2013. Finished 6-6 with a 5.55 ERA (58 ER, 94.0 IP) in 16 starts with AAA Tacoma. Went 11-11 with 4.43 ERA in 26 starts for the Mariners in 2012ranked 2nd in AL with 1.42 walks per 9.0 innings (Colon - 1.36).
