Sec.11 Page 45 (Amended April 2005) In item E302, the following paragraph has been added: See also requirements to tension piles in C107. Sec.11 Page 46 (Amended April 2005) Item E501 has been changed as follows: 501 Suction anchors are vertical cylindrical anchors with open or (normally) closed top, which are installed initially by self-weight penetration followed by application of underpressure (suction) in the closed compartment. The failure mechanism in the clay around an anchor will depend on various factors, like the load inclination, the anchor depth to diameter ratio, the depth of the load attachment point, the shear strength profile, and whether the anchor has an open or a closed top. Items E502 to E505 have been added as follows: 502 If the load inclination is close to vertical, the anchor will tend to move out of the ground, mainly mobilising the shear strength along the outside skirt wall and the inverse bearing capacity of the soil at skirt tip level. If the anchor has an open top, the inverse bearing capacity will not be mobilised if the inside skirt friction is lower than the inverse bearing capacity at skirt tip level. 503 If the load inclination is more towards the horizontal, the resistance at the upper part of the anchor will consist of passive and active resistances against the front and back of the anchor, and side shear along the anchor sides. Deeper down, the soil may flow around the anchor in the horizontal plane, or underneath the anchor. 504 For intermediate load inclinations, there will be an interaction between the vertical and the horizontal capacities. This interaction may lead to vertical and horizontal failure load components that are smaller than the vertical and horizontal failure loads under pure vertical or horizontal loading, see Fig.1.

In item C101, the text "cylindrical and un-stiffened conical" has been added. In items D101 and E102, the reference to Sec.2, has been deleted. Sec.5 Page 26 (Amended April 2005) The parameter kr has been removed from the formula and from the list. rc has been removed from the list. Item F402, first paragraph has changed as follows: The requirement in 401 applies to an axis parallel to the plating. For stiffeners at an oblique angle with the plating an approximate requirement to standard section modulus may be obtained by multiplying the section modulus from 401 with the factor: Sec.5 Page 27 (Amended April 2005) In item G302, the text "will be required" has been changed to "shall be carried out". In item G303, the references to "600 or 700" has been corrected to "400 and 500". Sec.6 Page 30 (Amended April 2005) In item A101 the text of offshore structures has been added. DNV-RP-B401: Cathodic Protection Design, January 2005 Sec.2 Page 8 (Amended October 2005) In the Sec.2 title, the word Normative has been deleted. Sec.5 Page 11 (Amended October 2005) A new item 5.8.3 has been added, and the succeeding items have been renumbered accordingly: 5.8.3 For large and complex structures like e.g. multi-well subsea production units, extensive use of coating is required to limit the overall current demand and to ensure adequate current distribution. The CP design procedure in this document does not account for a voltage drop in the seawater remotely from anodes. To compensate for this, the design coating breakdown factors to be used for CP design are deliberately selected in a conservative manner to ensure that a sufficient total final current output capacity is installed. As a consequence, any calculations of the electrolytic voltage drop away from the anodes (e.g. by means of finite or boundary element analyses) and using these coating breakdown factors may result in excessively high electrolytic voltage drops, indicating marginal or even insufficient cathodic protection in terms of the estimated protection potential. This will primarily apply to relatively long design lives when

the calculated coating breakdown, and hence current demands and electrolytic voltage drop increase exponentially. Sec.6 Page 13 (Amended October 2005) A new sentence has been added at the end of item 6.3.11 as follows: For internally heated components, the design current density shall be increased by 0.002 A/m2 for each C that the metal / seawater is assumed to exceed 25C. Sec.1 Page 6 (Amended October 2005) In item 1.3.1, the Guidance note has been deleted. Sec.2 Page 7 (Amended October 2005) In the Sec.2 title, the word Normative has been deleted. Sec.5 Page 8 (Amended October 2005) In item 5.2.2, a new sentence has been added to the Guidance note as follows:
For CP calculations, a minimum cut-back length of 0.20 m should be applied.

This is justified by the specific requirements to coating design and quality control of coating application in the referenced DNVRP-F102 and DNV-RP-F106; the ISO standard referring to the generic type of coating (e.g. fusion bonded epoxy) or purpose of coating (e.g. thermal insulation) and to (quote:) commonly applied industry standards. The constants recommended in Annex 1 are only applicable if the actual coating specifications are in general compliance with the referred DNV RP's. However, for certain combinations of coating systems (e.g. asphalt and coal tar enamel plus FJC based on tape or sleeves with infill), the CP system can readily be designed so that the current demands of both standards are fulfilled (see also Guidance notes to 5.4.1 and 5.6.9).

Guidance note: The total net anode mass calculated from eqn. (5) may be considered as an absolute minimum value. If a default anode distance of 300 m is adopted (5.6.1), typical bracelet anode dimensions will normally give a significantly higher anode mass to be installed. Any excess anode mass installed can be utilised as a contingency in case the calculated current demand was underestimated due to e.g. pipeline components not included in the current demand calculations, or unforeseen mechanical damage to the coating during installation and/or operation, or if the design life of the pipeline is extended. (For inclusion of contingency in pipeline CP design, see Guidance note to 1.2.1).

---e-n-d---of---G-u-i-d-a-n-c-e---n-o-t-e---

Sec.5 Page 9 (Amended October 2005) In item 5.2.9, a new Guidance note has been added as follows:
Guidance note: ISO 15589-2 recommends constants a and b in eqn (2) for general types of pipeline coating systems assuming that the reduction of current demand for CP (i.e. per surface area) is the same for linepipe and FJC (quote: field joints having a quality equivalent to factory-applied coatings). This RP, however, refers to specific combinations of linepipe and FJC coating and takes into account their relative surface area (eqn. 9). The calculated FJC coating breakdown factor may then be 3-30 times higher than for the linepipe coating. For certain combinations of parent and linepipe coating, the calculated overall coating breakdown using the constants in Annex 1 may be significantly lower than in the ISO standard.

Sec.5 Page 10 (Amended October 2005) In item 5.6.1, a new Guidance note has been added as follows:

Guidance note: Also the ISO 15589-2 encourages CP of short pipelines by anodes located at each end of the pipeline. To calculate the protective length of such anodes, this standard recommends so-called attenuation calculations contained in an Annex A. These formulas are fairly complicated and contain the pipe-to-electrolyte insulation resistance as the most critical parameter and which (quote:) should be selected based on practical experience. This RP, however, offers a simplified approach with specification of all required design parameters.
