1. INFINITIVE + -ED - look looked / want wanted

2. INFINITIVE finished in E + D arrive- arrived

3. INFINITIVE finished in consonant + y = ied study-studied

4. INFINITIVE finished in C+V+C= double C+ED stop-stopped

5. TWO SYLLABLE INFINITIVE finished in C+V+C with the accent in the last syllable= DOUBLE C+ED prefer-preferred

6. INFINITIVE finished in C+V+L= DOUBLE LL+ED travel-travelled/ cancel-cancelled

/-ID/ It is pronounced /-id/ when the infinitive finishes in t or in d - started, wanted

/-T/ It is pronounced /-T/ when the infinitive finishes in / P, K, S, F, X, CH, SH/ - stopped

/-D/ It is pronounced /-D/ when the infinitive finishes in /B,G,L,M,N,V,Y,Z or vowel/ - arrived
