Taping for Chiropractors

By Donna Strachan & Ulrik Sandstrm

Sat 7th June 9:30am Sun 8th June 1:30pm
Donna Strachan and Ulrik Sandstrm have decades of experience in elite sports chiropractic between them and were both chosen to work at the Athletes Village during London 2012. They have worked with premiership football and rugby clubs, the RFU, UK Athletics, English Institute of Sports and professional athletes from a huge variety of sports. They both lecture nationally and internationally on a variety of chiropractic techniques including Graston, IASTM, Taping, Muscle Testing and Manipulative techniques and both present principle based learning rather than a large amount of individual techniques. This enables delegates to apply the concepts learned in an easy and logical manner which fits their own treatment model, rather than being overloaded with a huge range of techniques which are difficult to remember and apply. Their motto is: Only when you understand the concept can you make the technique your own They have both felt that taping has not been taught well to chiropractors and have applied their combined experiences and teaching principles to this subject. This course is a result of this collaboration

At Holiday Inn, Farnborough (M25/M3)

Have you been wondering what all the fuss is about regarding taping techniques especially with the recent advent of multicoloured kinesiotaping? Are you confused about the variety of tapes, materials and courses on offer? This is the course that covers them all in a conceptual way thats easy to understand a to apply in your clinic. We are not trying to sell you a brand of taping, but will cover the rigid tapes and flexible tapes, the principles behind tham and how to apply them. If you want a load of taping techniques, then go on YouTube if you want simple and clear concepts of which tape does what, and how and when to use it; then this is the course for you. We had some great feedback from our initial course; particularly from some colleagues who had done other courses, but felt they want something concept based rather than technique based. Taping is not just for sports injuries but can significantly support your treatment for a lot of conditions. It will offer the patient another modality which helps them even when theyve left your office. The following Monday morning, you will be able to: Decide which technique will suit the patient in front of you based on easily applied principles Support your adjustments by reducing muscle spasm Immediately increase ROM to injured joints Help patients with chronic hypertonicity to release their muscle tension Reduce the tension of neurogenic pain such as brachialgia and sciatica Improving healing of scars and reduce swelling from acute injury Offload acute disc injuries Advise patients regarding self taping Support patients in retraining posture

Taping works for your athletes but just as well for your non-athletic patients and although this is a concept centered seminar, you will be presented with simple yet effective taping methods for a variety of conditions common in the chiropractic office. These include option for the tricky peripheral joint problems such as shoulder capsulitis, tennis elbow, patellar dysfunction and plantar fasciitis as well as techniques for the spinal conditions you see every day. This will be a very practical seminar and places will be limited. Early Bird Fee before 5th May: After 5th May: 260 290
