Which Curcumin is the Right One to Buy?

Your customers have probably heard of the many benets of curcumin from turmeric, but arent sure which is the best choice. They may be looking for turmeric or curcumin, and there are a lot of competing claims, products, and standards out there. We hope that this chart and explanation helps cut through the clutter, and shows why we have chosen BCM-95 curcumin for our products. BCM-95 takes the very best in turmeric and makes it benecial. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) has been used in foods and in traditional Indian (Ayurvedic) medicine for centuries and contains curcumin a key benecial compound. But only 2 to 5% of turmeric is actually curcumin. In order to get 100 mg of curcumin, youd have to take 2000 mg of turmeric (5% of 2000 mg = 100 mg) to a whopping 5000 mg (2% of 5000 mg = 100 mg). Complicating things is that very little curcumin from turmeric is actually absorbed by the body, and it is not sustained in the bloodstream for signicant periods of time. It has taken a lot of time and research to nd safe and practical ways to do that. Some products use piperine to increase absorption. While it can be effective, it can also cause potentially dangerous interactions with prescription medications and liver health in general. Other products use phosphatidylcholine another name for lecithin to boost absorption. A recent study found that though this process improves absorption, the starting amounts of pure curcuminoids are so small that they raise blood levels to less than half that of BCM-95 curcumin. By comparison, BCM-95 curcumin is combined with micronized curcumin and essential turmeric oil (in a patented process) that allows up to 10 times better absorption in the body than standardized (curcumin 95%) extracts. And these numbers have been clinically proven in published human trials. Additionally, BCM-95 attains clinically studied blood levels faster, and maintains them longer, than other types of curcumin. This allows for curcumin to exert its benecial effects consistently and for longer periods of time. Curcumin complexes with piperine tend to peak early and taper off quickly. For these reasons, and after careful consideration, research, consultation with experts, and visits to India, our companys president and founder, Terry Lemerond, chose to use BCM-95 curcumin exclusively. He did this because he judged this to be the best curcumin in the world and a nutrient that could deliver life-changing results. All EuroPharma/Terry Naturally brand products that contain curcumin use only the BCM-95 form of curcumin.
