Dear Grandmother Ruth,

I am writing to tell you about the news. Im ten years old and Im studying at Washington Middle School. I go to
school five times a week and I really enjoy it. My mom is very happy with me, because she knows Im learning
very fast. I live in a huge house, with an enormous backyard surrounded by towering trees and with flowers
scattered all over it. My Dad works at a big company and he has just gotten a promotion: he is going to be the
director. We are all very excited about it, because a lot of things will change. When my dad got the promotion we
were amazed, we knew many surprises would come. We are going to move to New York city, where the directors
stay. Also, mom said we are going to live in a big apartment, with an
entire bedroom just for me. Its all planned, sweetheart she said. My
cat Joe is coming with us, I will never leave him alone. It is going to have
a big bed too, right next to mine. My school is going to be different too,
my mom said. And Im going to make a lot of new friends. The subjects
are going to be the same; they are not going to change. I hope the
teachers are nice there too. We are travelling to New York next week
and Im going to see the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State building
and the Central Park. I cant wait to see what is going to happen; Im
very excited about my future in New York.
