1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Placement Department in KLGCC Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) is a resplendent golf course that encapsulates Sime Darby Property Bhd's ability to provide a world class facility. Department here is too much and I have chosen to be in the FACILITIES department. In the Facilities department is divided into 2 parts. The first part is Maintenance and the second part Housekeeping. I have been placed in Maintenance to provide experience and use what I've learned in UNISEL to my career choice about the future.I learn about to become a real working environment.

1.2 Training objective Industrial Training helps me to get more excited and involved on my respective

studies in Unisel. To prevent that, an outdoor internship program is suggested to enhance me interest in the particular field as well as moulding them into a confident and motivated me when return back from training. Other than that, through this challenging training, I can sharpen my own skills and capability at working environment in order to self-prepare for my future. By this beneficial training, I will learn how to make myself fit into the working world as well as practicing good communication and practical skills. This will assure me a better opportunity when trying my luck in working environment after completing my studies. Industrial Training also helps me to improve the links between peoples especially in their industry field. Finally, I will be able to enhance my creative thinking ability by producing the Industrial Training Report which being the partial requirement for the completion of Industrial Training. By applying the knowledge thought in lecture rooms in industrial situations, I can produce a good training report which will give me an exposure in producing quality report without unnecessary errors and misinterpretations.

1.3 Issue to be handle

Each day, my department will conduct briefing twice. It start with the first briefing at 9 am and the second at 3 pm. During the briefing, the employee will present the damages that have been sent into department Facilities. Identifying the needs, time and finding the best way to solve the situation with the most effective way. It involves maintaining the physical Club building of the residence in a safety and hygienic way. The job of keeping the Club safe necessitates the professional to look into each and every problematic situation that might arise in the Club on a daily basis and solve. Facilities department is quite an elaborate task as it virtually involves providing all round service to the building and customer service. The services are categorized broadly into hard services, soft services, hospitality and staffing solutions. The hard services include repairing of any electrical and mechanical equipment, HVAC services, water and plumbing services and energy management. The soft services include housekeeping, maintaining title the best Club Golf in Asian, providing safety, pest management, water and waste management. The hospitality services include VIP lounge & VIP suites services management. The staffing solutions services include providing support services, administrative services and assistance Club services. After all, a building is a long lasting investment and the materials chosen by the facility maintenance should ensure that. It will be appreciated that good quality material is not only durable but it will also save up on the maintenance costs later. Finally , Facilities department covers various matters like repairs of carpentry, maintenance and repairs of ceiling and roofing, repair and replacement of electrical fittings and machines, air-conditioning, electronic equipment, maintenance and repainting of both interiors and exteriors club, safety, and even additions and alterations to the existing facility.

1.4 Types of assignment to be submitted Trip at multi-level car park

Any place in the city have a similar challenge when the multi-level car park has to control the light wiring. This is because, place the rise and widespread use of electric current. Parking KLGCC have trouble putting their vehicles when it comes to Golf Club at night. This can occur due to trip the circuit and cause a lamp will not work and will cause damage. Among other reasons is the rainwater runoff and bird nests. Used fluorescent lamps are very sensitive.

I was asked by a supervisor to inspect damage to the air-conditioner brand Smart-Tech at Chill-Out lounge. The fact that it does not work and has a leak reason has something wrong with the water channel near the circuit self out. This can be something as simple as a shorted wire and relay in the unit for the compressor or fan motor shorted. It was hard when I saw the power cord is covered with water so that it may cause a short circuit. If it's just a shorted wire, capacitors, relays or switches, repair bills will not be that bad.

Chiller system

A chiller boiler system is a hydronic system it uses water instead of air to heat and cool a structure. A properly designed hydronic system is usually more efficient than a standard forced air system. Chiller boiler systems use radiant heating and cooling or fan coil systems to use at Clubhouse in KLGCC.

A driving range is an area where golfers can practice their golf swing. It can also be a recreational activity itself for amateur golfers or when enough time for a full game is not available. Many golf courses have a driving range attached and they are also found as stand-alone facilities, especially in urban areas. They are typically run by businesses or sometimes by universities. Distances are usually marked by target greens at regular distances. Driving ranges may have natural grass, similar to a golf course, or players may have to use synthetic mats that resemble real turf.

Golfers pay is usually defined as small (30-50 balls), medium (50-80 balls), and large (80 to 100 balls), and hit at their leisure. KLGCC have electronic properties Tee Up Machine device, the ball load automatically, and record the use of a ball on a smart card. Often there are golf professionals available to provide education and teaching. Ball taken by special tank with a clean and roller attachment that automatically picks up the ball and drains that protects the driver from entering the field. In urban areas and suburban areas, large nets protect people and surrounding structures from errant balls. Driving range is very popular in Malaysia where golf courses are overcrowded and often very expensive. Many commercial driving is seen in conjunction with other relevant areas of practice sports like batting cages or miniature golf, for entertainment. Some also offer the driving range to practice chip shots, bunker shots, and putting.

Tee Up Machine System is the first in Malaysia and the only Driving Range available in Malaysia for now. Machine were imported from Japan and has been upgraded by MQUEST LTD. This machine has 6 sensors in shots (front) and has a tank that can hold 10,000 balls. Collection system is through the gutter ball in design throughout the entire field. But the ball must be pushed manually on the completion time of operation. When the ball reached the final drain, it will enter into the path of the ball and cleaned using special chemical directly into the storage tank.

2.1 History of establishment Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club is a major golf course in Klang Valley, Malaysia owned by Sime Darby Property. It is located in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) is a proprietary club wholly owned and operated by KLGCC Berhad. At its inception, KLGCC Berhad was incorporated as a private limited company on 12th April 1990 under the name Gold Passage Sdn. Bhd. On 21st March 1991, it changed its name to Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club Sdn. Bhd. and subsequently converted into a public company on 15th December 1992. In 1997 the Club was acquired by Sime Darby, Malaysias leading multinational conglomerate. There are two 18-hole courses, the West course and the East course, both designed by Nelson Howarth. The club hosted several major tournaments. The Malaysian Open was played at the West Course in 2006 and 2010. It has hosted the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia on the LPGA Tour in October since 2010.

Strategically located in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur some 8 km away from the city centre, KLGCC can be easily accessed via major expressways such as the New Klang Valley Expressway and the Sprint highway. KLGCC provides the option of two 18-hole courses West Course, an international championship Par 72 course The East Course, a social, wetlands-themed Par 71 course with facilities for night golfing.

CLUBHOUSE The Clubhouse was designed by William Moisson in the graceful Spanish style of Southern California. The completion of renovations are approximately of 250,000 sq ft of covered and exclusive facilities for Members and their guests with amenities at the Club carefully planned to guarantee a smooth flow of activities in the functional area. KLGCC is now outfitted with the latest state-of-the-art facilities.

DRIVING RANGE The new driving range, comprising of three levels accommodating 78 bays, has been completely reconstructed to provide more challenging targets for all golfers to aim at. New larger grass tees have been constructed to full golf course tee specifications with the same paspalum grass as is found in the golf course. The range itself has been reshaped to resemble the golf course. The target greens are scaled imitations of four of the West Course greens holes 5,14,18 and 11. The greens are now relatively flat to give a more realistic feel and allow golfers to see where their ball actually finishes. The entire range is covered with artificial grass of different colours and where possible slopes are such that balls will run to the automatic ball collection drains. The netting at the back has also been raised to lessen the number of balls exiting the range.

3. 3 Task and responsibility of department The Club Golf maintenance is typically responsible for the upkeep of commercial structures, buildings, or system breakdown. Maintenance technicians may work in a number of different settings. These professionals do not specialize in any work trade, but are well versed in many different skills including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and electronic. The daily duties of a maintenance technician vary widely, and may consist of almost any type of large or small repair that is necessary. In addition to repair work, these task also perform many types of preventative maintenance tasks. This is the task and responsibility maintenance workers : Complete and process different work order assignments. Head responsibility for entire facility maintenance in Clubhouse. Control and take care of the wiring system. Control system of the air-conditioner. Perform as contact point for building engineering team, outside vendors and contractors on special projects. Setup and stay for the PA system for any event Conduct activities to manage facilities for special events. Involve in office building safety like routine fire extinguisher safety check and security administration. Monitor and repair facilities systems and technical devices directly supporting test and building operations. Supervise and assist smooth functioning of toxic gas detection and fire alarm system. Assist in hazardous waste management. Involve in preventative maintenance, troubleshoots, dismantles, repairs and reassembles complex equipment. Assist planning and scheduling of installation, care, and repair of club facilities and equipment.

4.0 GENERAL OPERATION Staff of the maintenance team ensure that all mechanical systems and equipment are operational and properly maintained and all common areas are maintained in a clean aesthetically appealing and disinfected condition. Routinely walks floors including roof checking for problems and lights out and reports back to supervisors. Ensures all safety precautions are followed while performing work. Maintains working relationship with building staff. Responsible to inspect areas that need paint and advise manager. Completes daily work orders as scheduled. Maintains assigned equipment in good working condition. Properly performs casual labor, such as lifting/moving heavy items as directed by supervisors and following appropriate safety procedures. Performs minor maintenance replacement and repairs in areas of carpentry, electrical work, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, painting, flooring, and other building repairs through daily scheduled work orders. Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment. Performs maintenance replacement and repair in areas of carpentry, electrical & electronic work, plumbing, mechanical, painting, flooring, and other minor building repairs as long as a permit is not required to conduct the job. Must be able to properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment. Accurately and legibly, record the maintenance or alteration on the proper repair equipment and/or customer supplied forms including their work to do. Report any difficulties, uncertainties, unserviceable equipment or potential safety hazards to their supervisor and observe all safety precautions in the performance of assigned tasks at all times. Report any tool issues to restaurant and ensure the correct tag is attached and properly completed. Take part in any required training including GMM and safety. Keep all work areas clean and orderly. Proven ability to work alone and in a team environment.

The equipment technician reports also important to have golf club employee and supervisor and oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program. This program includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment service. The equipment must be properly right any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to tell to executive or supervisor. The equipment technician employee must take places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area.

The golf club assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining golf club properties which include: Driving range Maintenance equipment electrical & electronic The golf car fleet (buggy) Drink hut Equipment door & locker room Changing room Air-cond Pipe system Kitchen utensils PA system

Conclusion, the task is concerned with all aspects of maintenance of equipment using electricity and security of clients from a variety of non-damage complaints and satisfaction in terms of service and facilities. This is consistent with ensuring KLGCC defend the title of The Best Club Golf in Asian.

5.0 ACTIVITY DURING TRAINING 5.1 Project embark 5.1.1 - Trip at Multi-level Car Park. A fluorescent lamp or fluorescent tube is a gas-discharge lamp that uses electricity to excite mercury vapor. The excited mercury atoms produce short-wave ultraviolet light that then causes a phosphor to fluoresce, producing visible light. A fluorescent lamp converts electrical power into useful light much more efficiently than incandescent lamps. The luminous efficacy of a compact fluorescent light bulb is about 60 lumens per watt, four times the efficacy of a typical incandescent bulb. For conventional tube fluorescent lamps the fixture is more costly because it requires a ballast to regulate the current through the lamp, but the lower energy cost typically offsets the higher initial cost. The larger fluorescent lamps have been mostly used in KLGCC Multi-level Car Park, the compact fluorescent lamp is available in the same sizes as incandescents and is used as an energy-saving alternative in Club Golf. Because they contain mercury, many fluorescent lamps are classified as hazardous waste. The United States Environmental Protection Agency recommends that fluorescent lamps be segregated from general waste for recycling or safe disposal.

The fact that the light worked perfectly well at some point in time must mean that the original wiring was good at each level. If it is a hallway light, it is possible that it was a 3-way switch. A 3-way switch has 3 wires attached to the switch, if the switch that replaced had 3 wires attached to it, then there must be another switch somewhere (several switches that can control the same light fixture). Now sometimes the Multi-level Car Park could feed into the light switch and timer, then wired to the light fixture. Sometimes it is wired into the light fixture and wires would go from there to the switch. I suspect the following, neutral and live wire that was attached..In that attached bundle, neutral wire is the live current level feed, the other live wire is feed another device/plug/fixture/timer somewhere else in the level, the white wire that was in that bundle is leading to the light switch, the other neutral wire going to the single life wire of the light fixture is the return wire from the light switch.

At the light fixture, life wire from switch connected to the neutral wire from the circuit power line and another neutral wire that is possibly feeding level power to another plug/fixture somewhere else in the other level. Obviously this situation is dangerous. The breaker is tripping before the circuit burns down due to overcurrent, but the breaker might not trip if your wiring fault happens to be dumping current to ground through a person or the wiring fault is causing a fire due to sparking.

5.1.3 - Find the source of the air-conditioner damage SMART-TECH. I was asked by a supervisor to inspect damage to the air-conditioner brand Smart-Tech at Chill-Out lounge. The fact that it does not work and has a leak reason has something wrong with the water channel near the circuit self out. This can be something as simple as a shorted wire and relay in the unit for the compressor or fan motor shorted. It was hard when I saw the power cord is covered with water so that it may cause a short circuit. If it's just a shorted wire, capacitors, relays or switches, repair bills will not be that bad.

In conclusion, maintenance should be called Smart-Tech supplier and they say this system is the first system ever released. Solution, this system had been shut down and replaced with other models.

5.1.4 Chiller system Chiller boiler system is a chiller, boiler, pumps and HVAC controls in a single pre-engineered package. This reduces complexity for the field installer and increases the simplicity of installation overall. Chiller boiler packaged systems are designed for large Clubhouse in KLGCC. A chiller boiler system is a hydronic system it uses water instead of air to heat and cool a structure. A properly designed hydronic system is usually more efficient than a standard forced air system. Chiller boiler systems use radiant heating and cooling or fan coil systems to Clubhouse.

This allows for multiple zones (a thermostat in each AHU room in Clubhouse) for increased comfort and decreased energy use. Compared with air, water is a more space-efficient method of transferring heat and cold around a building. Pipe delivers the same amount of heat as an air duct and is much easier to install in small spaces. Chiller approaches buildings as more than concrete. I see them in terms of the critical comfort needs of the customer and the things in the building. More than half of the large buildings in the world today have a chiller at their core, playing a critical role in creating the right comfort environment. Not only do KLGCC chillers provide the right temperature, humidity and ventilation, chiller also help reduce cost of operation, provide energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact. It most energy efficient, lowest emission large chiller available.

Refrigerant Monitors

The Chiller has two important benefits: refrigerant conservation and safety. As a leak-sensing device, chiller refrigerant monitor constantly measures the amount of specific refrigerants in the surrounding air. This device is capable of initiating alarms, activating building ventilating systems, and interfacing with Building Automation Systems. 5.1.5 Learn about system machine at Driving Range. Driving range is an area where golfers can practice their golf swing. It can also be a recreational activity itself for amateur golfers or when enough time for a full game is not available. Many golf courses have a driving range attached and they are also found as stand-alone facilities, especially in urban areas. They are typically run by businesses or sometimes by universities. Distances are usually marked by target greens at regular distances. Driving ranges may have natural grass, similar to a golf course, or players may have to use synthetic mats that resemble real turf. Tee Up Machine System is the first in Malaysia and the only Driving Range available in Malaysia for now. Machine were imported from Japan and has been upgraded by MQUEST LTD. This machine has 6 sensors in shots (front) and has a tank that can hold 10,000 balls. Collection system is through the gutter ball in design throughout the entire field. But the ball must be pushed manually on the completion time of operation. When the ball reached the final drain, it will enter into the path of the ball and cleaned using special chemical directly into the storage tank.

First of all, KLGGC driving range wants to provide as much convenience and satisfaction to their customers as possible. By using Tee-Up systems customers can focus on their stance, grip and posture without moving to re-tee the next ball. After a ball has been hit, the next ball is automatically teed up in 4 seconds. It can also easily and comfortably adjust height of the tee steplessly by just pressing the button in front with the clubhead. As a result, it can achieve swing grooving and muscle memory while maintaining rhythm, tempo and consistency. The customers are really pleased that they never have to bend over.

Second, the range wishes to enhance sales revenue. With Tee-Up systems, customers hit approx. 40 % more balls in a given time, hugely increasing revenue per customer, per visit. In addition, fully automated tee-up system, the prepaid card together with computer management system will enable KLGCC to have unattended operation of the facilities and brings much higher sales amount than a bucket system.

Third, fully automated system reduces staff costs and enhances range appearance.

Fourth, specialists software brings total control and flexibility in range management. 5.3 Experience or knowledge acquired In this company, I learn how to use tools which i never used before whether at Unisel or other places. I also learn about electricity from senior and how to handle a current flow without making any mistakes which can harm myself. Some knowledges acquired to do this job. Another thing is, I learn about electrical and electronics components such as, opening a motor and blower to know what is inside to check part damage and change it new spare part.

6.0 COMMENT OR RECOMMENDATION

6.1 - Training place relevant During the period of my industry training at KLGCC, I have learnt a lot of things and gain so much of technical knowledge that cannot be obtained through academic learning. I believe that these experience and knowledge will be very useful when I step into the real working life in the future.

6.2 - Recommendation(where appropriate)

With this opportunity, I like to suggest few comments to University Selangor (UNISEL), Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club and to trainee itself to further improve industrial training quality so that coming soon trainee can do their training better than ever. Firstly, industrial training plays a vital role to provide lesson for student to expose into real working life before graduate. Therefore, industrial training should be a compulsory course during studies in education institutes in order to produce students that are excellent in academics, good communication skill with others during working and able to apply the theoretical concepts in real working condition. Optimizing the industrial training schedule program, set by Unisel, is practically and technically an ultimate future step towards academic excellence. The industrial training program has proved within the present and the past years of being a successful and superior intellectual concept, where trainee are being exposed to the practical and technical knowledge observation, with the set period agreed on, it has summed up to both theoretical and practical knowledge optimism. The industrial program is set to meet different types of industrial exposure with multiple industry field integration. In addition to the practical goal achievement of the training the industry field is an environment rich of heritage and cultural ideologies. Apart from that, I would like to suggest that Unisel may send supervisor twice within the training period to visit the trainee. At this point of time, supervisor may be able to follow up with company workers about the progression of training in order to improve the performance of trainee. In addition, the duration of training can

be increased so that the trainees can complete the task given by company as well as gain more practical experiences in their field. Furthermore, the company should provide a detailed schedule of training for the trainee during the orientation. The trainee will clear about the job and task need to complete in the certain duration. Besides that, trainee can arrange their own timetable wisely in order to complete the task and project given by the company on time. For the company and trainee itself, I suggest that students should always be professional during industrial training. Student may seek for work task from leader rather than asked to do so. To improve the performance of training, company workers can give more supervision toward performance of the trainees in order to further improve their achievement in industry training.

The Ministry of Higher Education (KPTM) also should play an important role in informing about the presence of Industrial Training for those undergraduate from Unisel to those public and private industries. This will able the students to find a place for their industrial training easily since many employer are interested in employing those undergraduate students from various institute of higher learning. Apart from that, the Unisel should carry out a survey on few selected undergraduate who fresh from the industrial training. This able the government to make some changes according to current changes in the society. Finally, I would strongly suggest to those undergraduate who are going to pursue their industrial Training to show a good self-value while dealing with the superiors and other staffs. Besides that, the student should show high discipline by obeying all rules and regulations in the industries. The students also need to pay attention to the instruction given by the instructors. A good communication skill is very important for those undergraduate to ensure a smooth relationship between the organizations. From the above recommendation, I hope it will bring more improvement to industrial training courses in every institute of higher learning especially Dip in Industrial Technology. Not only that, I believe companies also be able to obtain benefits from this improvement because graduated student that may work for them in the future.

7.0 CONCLUSION

7.1 - Result of training towards myself and knowledge After completed my industry training in Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, I can conclude that industrial training is a very important part of learning to acquire experiences and technical knowledge before go to real working environment. Within 15 weeks of industry training in KLGCC, I learnt and practice how to overcome real life problem. These experiences are very valuable when I exposing myself into the real working environment in the future. From the first task until the last task assigned to me by my supervisor, I did it without any delay and tried to complete the task as soon as possible. I also ensure my completed task satisfying supervisors need and always try to avoid any careless mistake in the task given. May be some times, my completed task is not that good as compared with supervisors work, but I have learnt from that and tried to improve my work next time.

7.2 - Training achieve its objective Industry training gives me a greatest chance to experience the working environment before graduated. I am able to apply whatever theory learnt in the student life through problem solving. By overcome the problem, student may able to relate theory learnt to the real life application. This kind of realization will promote our interest in academic learning because we know the actual relation between theory and practical. Throughout the training, I realize that cooperation among worker is the key of success of any objective which to improve the quality of work. For an example, to complete a task and responsibility work, cooperation and teamwork among workers are required in order to complete the work. Generally, student can know their capability and weakness during industry training. From that, we can preserve our capability and improve related weakness in the future.
