Opened season 11-for-11 in save opportunities with a 0.50 ERA (1 ER, 18.0 IP) April 1-May 16, but posted a 5.71 ERA (26 ER, 41.0 IP) with 28 walks in 42 appearances beginning with first blown save May 20 at Cleveland. With AAA Tacoma from Aug. 5-31, going 0-1, 10.50 ERA in 8 G.

Went 0-0 with an 11.12 ERA (7 ER, 5.2 IP) in 6 relief appearances with the San Francisco Giants in 2013also appeared in 27 games in the minor leagues split between the San Francisco and Tampa Bay organizations. Has pitched in parts of eight seasons in the Colorado (2006-2007), Kansas City (2008), Boston (2009-2010), San Francisco (20102011, 2013) and New York Mets organizations (2012). Member of Giants 2010 World Champion squad posting 0.67 ERA (2 ER, 27.0 IP) in 25 appearances during final two months of season. Originally signed by Texas as a 16-year-old outfielder, but was converted to pitcher, and did not make his US professional debut until 2003 in the New York Yankees organization. Signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent on January 2, 2014.
