Kille Mahuli and Palasgad

Plan: As Aniket missed our last trek of Harishchandragad, he was desperate to compensate the loss. So I agreed to join him for the trip. After studying 3-4 forts, we eroed in !ahuligad.

Team Members: ". !aha#eer $ain %. Aniket &orle Baggage: Mandatory: ". %. 3. 4. .. 1. 'ed ( chadar Short )ater *ottles +at least 3 litres of water, -lucon-& /ood for a day +which we missed000000, 2rekking or sport shoes

Optional: ". 3nee caps %. Sun goggles, cap +in summer, 3. Stick +for *alance ( self defense, Start: 24th April 2010: )e started from 2hane at %"4%5 *y Aniket6s Acti#a. Aniket prepared 72hecha6 for our ne8t day food ( we were suppose to carry 7'hakri6 from hotel. Howe#er we could not get it. Hence, we decided to get it from any &ha*a on the way to Asangaon. )e reached at one of the &ha*a on highway at around %%4%5 Hrs. )e had our dinner there including poli-*haji which Aniket *rought. )e restarted journey *y %%445 Hrs. Here we forgot to get 79oli6 or *read packet from hotel. )e reached at !ahuli #illage around %3435 Hrs. )e reached at first temple +!aruti !andir,. )e surprised to see the lock at gates. So we decided to go *ack to #illage ( en:uire a*out another mandir. )e got help from a local guy +Shra#an ;ithu ;agh, who dropped us at !ahuli !andir. /ortunately its gates were opened. )e dropped Shra#an *ack to his home ( came *ack to !andir.

As we were a*out to sleep, one group of < person came to !andir. 2hey were to go to fort at night itself. 2hey asked us join them as we were new to place ( e#en did not know the way. Howe#er, as we got tired off ( pro*a*ly we could not match up pace of clim*ing with them, we denied ( decided to go as per plan. )e slipped in our *eds peacefully. 25th April 2010: =arly in the morning, Aniket woke up around 5.455 hrs. )e got oursel#es ready. As we thought that parking Acti#a in !andir could *e dangerous, we went ahead to a under construction resort +% minutes away from Shi#a !andir ( just near the -anapati !andir,. )e parked #ehicle at the cost of >s.%.?-. )e started our journey from -anapati !andir where marking *oard was a#aila*le. 2o our surprise, e#erywhere we found arrow marks indicating route to fort. 2his route is 7Shidichi )at6 +>oute of @adder,.

Soon after few minutes, Aniket started huffing ( puffing.

&uring this walk, we o*ser#ed that lots of trees were *urnt to ashes. )hyA )e don6t know. After trek of around two hours, we reached to area called 7-hodyachi !aan6 +Horse Beck, as it resem*les to neck of a horse. It is #ery narrow patch. After crossing this, we came across a *ig rock to clim* up.

/rom here onwards after half an hour we reached to staircase. Although purpose of putting staircase is good, the design of staircase makes situation more unsafe. After crossing staircase we reached ta*le top.

Gad Mahuli: Immediately after reaching to top, one can see a small water tank.

Here also arrow marks are a#aila*le to go to !ahadarwaja ca#es. Cther way goes to 3alyan &arwaja towards 'handargad. After ".-%5 minutes6 walk from here, one can reach to !ahadarwarja.

Dnder a tree, there is some ruins of the fort ( a shi#a ling. )ater source is a#aila*le here which is a #ery small s:uare tank. )ater was clean ( sweet.

As we did not *ring the food, throughout the trekking we kept on eating 3ara#ande where#er we found.

After reaching here, we drank 73airi 9anhe6 courtesy Aniket.

Bow we wanted to mo#e around fort. As no guide was a#aila*le, we did not know how ( where to start. Dltimately we selected one path. It ended up in to dead end. So we came *ack ( chosen another way. It also ended up in dead end. So ultimately we selected last path, which was leading to 79alasgad6. Palasgad: )e kept on walking in to jungle. It was #ery dense forest. =#en though we had a *ig knife ( a stick for our defence, at the corner of our mind there was fear. ;ery soon we found that we are trekking down. So we had dou*t whether we are descending the !ahuli fort or whatA 'ut then again we remem*ered that to clim* 9alasgad one has to descend !ahuligad. Some of the finds of this trek are one parasite, house *uild insects +we are not sure which insects do such a *eautiful ( artistic structure,.

After trekking of half an hour we reached top of 9alasgad. )e ha#e seen a tree with fruits of si e *igger than apple. )e could resist oursel#es to taste it. Ean any*ody tell, what is this fruit ( is it eata*leA

)e could see ruins of a +might *e, *uruj or house.

)e just followed a path without any di#ersion. Dltimately we reached a point from where we could see dam of 2ansa. After spending some time there, we trekked *ack to !ahuligad.

&uring this trek Aniket could see a #ery *ig snake which I missed. Return from Mahuli: )e reached *ack to !ahadarawaja *y "%455 hrs. our yesternights trek-mates were cooking some food. 2hey offered to lunch with them. )e immediately accepted the offer ( ate *read, kanda-papad *haji ( our thcha. After good lunch, we had nap of " hour ( started our return journey *y "44%. hrs. ;ery soon we reached to @adder. Aniket had a mind *lock to clim* down the ladder. So slowly we clim*ed down the ladder ( the rock phase also #ery easily passed. After sessions of photography we reached *ottom *y "F455 hrs.

)e got our #ehicle safe from the resort ( then went to Shi#a !andir. )ashed oursel#es ( to our surprise one family was there in hutment near to !andir. 2hey pro#ide food, etc for the trekkers if we tell them in ad#ance. Eontacts are4 !rs. Su#arna 2hakre 9hone Bum*er4 GH"H%5H.%1%1<. )e had tea ( some *iscuits ( started our journey to !anas !andir +$ain 2emples, Manas Mandiram (Jain Temples : I was surprised to see such a huge area de#eloped with *eautiful temples. I immediately recalled places like 9alitana.
