How to use resource

The functionality of this program is quite easy and is also maintenance free. Teachers can set up the program by inserting the CD/USB or can save it onto the class computers. Students can work through the program by themselves, in groups or even with the teacher. All links are saved in the folder and internet is only required to watch video that has been embedded onto the presentation. JOURNEY THROUGH THE SOLAR SYSTEM

Intended Audience This interactive power point and contained information is intended for stage 3 students as an introduction to the Solar System. Prerequisite skills: basic functionality skills of a keyboard and mouse basic reading and comprehension skills Means of evaluation Assess students comprehension skills through the completion of the interactive activities provided Ability to control resource through technology

Learning experiences:
The interactive power point has been created in order to provide many opportunities for learning experiences in an engaging and innovative way. These include interactive fact sheets, quiz, find-a-words, crosswords and much more. In addition, students are provided with an opportunity to practice their computer skills through the manipulation of some of the incorporated activities such as the hyperlinked slides/words/pictures, which allows the students to navigate their way through the power point.

Journey through the Solar System is an interactive power point designed for Primary school teachers to utilise within their classrooms. It teaches students about the Solar System through the use of technology.

Students control their own learning


The interactive power point provides students control of their own learning, as it allows them to progress intuitively and learn at their own pace that they are comfortable with. Students are able to go back to the information that they didnt quite understand and attempt the questions again. To further extend students knowledge and understanding of the Solar system, this power point can be utilised as an introductory tool to encourage students to further investigate a planet of their choice and collaborate an overall class project using the jigsaw method. Once these resources are in place, you then need to consider the ability of the learner and their computer skills. Students will gain excellent knowledge and learning experiences through this resource if they encompass the prerequisite skills.

The power point is designed to assist students learning about the eight planets plus dwarf Pluto, within our Solar System.
