What Ive Learned

As some of you may know, on February 14th I found my house with no water due to the pipes being frozen outside. After efforts the next day and the following Monday, I have learned that we are just waiting and seeing if they thaw on their own and everything will hopefully turn back to normal. However, in the mean time I have to connect two hoses between my house and the house next door. To make what could be a really long story short, at times it also means that I have to unthaw, the neighbors outside spicket in order for the water to come out. After three days I have learned a process that works better. I have also learned that when it is really cold you have to run water in the faucet between rinse cycles on the washing machine or the hose will freeze up. I could go on with all the things that I have learned this winter, but I wont. However, I am reminded that running water is a convenience, that I hope not to live with out in the future. It reminds me how much we, or should I say I, take for granted on a daily basis. We just expect that when we flip the light switch the light will come, or when we turn the faucet on that water will come out. The list could go on and on. This has reminded to take time out of my day and to truly thank God for all with which I am blessed (and thankful that I am alive in this time period). What are you thankful for? How often do you spend time giving thanks to God? I encourage us all to be intentional this Lenten season in our prayer of thanksgiving, for we truly are a blessed people. ~Pastor Cory
