Design Engineer in TME Services, Building Services Consulting Engineers, Ballysadare, Co Sligo
During my time in this post, my main duties involved designing building service systems and producing working drawings using various CAD software programs. I was responsible for preparing bills of quantities and tender documents, surveying buildings, attending site meetings and working with clients. Additionally, I had to train new employees to use the different procedures in the design process; these included excel templates, CIBSE guides/charts and how to use CAD effectively to draw services. In this post I work as part of a team of engineers, frequently to tight deadlines.

Research Interests: The role of ICT in the development of classroom resources for technology subjects

I am currently in the final stages of the development of an interactive revision tool for Construction Studies with a view to launching it nationally next year. I developed an innovative system of integrating 3D interactive PDFs in PowerPoint presentations from SolidWorks (including Students Design Kit). I also provided a solution to create photo realistic renders from SolidWorks SDK by using a third party program. ( SolidWorks SDK does not come with the rendering software) Both of these methods are now been implemented in the DTE program in GMIT, Letterfrack.

Professional involvement Currently a member of Techno Teachers Association Hobbies:


I am a classic car enthusiast, am a member Irish Minis Owners Club and have fully rebuilt a classic Mini. I was the chairperson of the Sligo IT Mountaineering Club for 2 years and still go hillwalking. Learning about new software and technologies such as creating homemade data visualizers, 3D scanners. Furniture making, general wood working, sketching, DIY/building, house building. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
