Why rainwater harvest?

NPDES Phase h II Regulations l i Provides supplemental water for non-potable uses. Mitigates urban flooding. Recharge ground water. Provides sustainability LEED

Under US EPA NPDES Regulations

If the storm water runoff from a given site is collected and discharged, the run off must treated. If one reduces the volume of runoff, runoff then you have effectively reduced the discharge treatment volume required for the site. Innovative onsite storm water storage, harvesting and reuse plans can reduce storm water runoff.

LEED Credits for Green Building

SS Credit 6.1 & 6.2 : Storm Water Design, Quality Control Intent: Limit disruption of natural water hydrology by reducing impervious p cover, , increasing g onsite infiltration, , reducing g or eliminating pollution from storm water runoff. WE Credit 1.1 & 1.2 : Water Efficient Landscaping Intent: Limit or eliminate the use of potable water or other natural surface or subsurface water resource available on or near the project site for landscape irrigation. WE Credit 2.0 : Innovative Wastewater Technologies Intent: Reduce the generation of wastewater and potable water demand while increasing the local aquifer recharge.

First StepStep Establish volume! Review:

System S t Footprint. F t i t Pipe Heights of Cover. Site Restraints- R.O.W.s, Property Lines, Building Locations, Utilities, etc.

16

Step Two -Imagination! Imagination!

One p precast p pipe p or Box Culvert can equal the area of 2-3 flexible pipes? pipe p runs and Reduce number of p shorten lengths - (Savings on excavation- backfilling-time of Installation-environmental impact). See if a precast box culvert would do the trick.

17

Step ThreeThree Review the p pipe p layout. y Review footprint and calculate the g excavation and backfill savings. This alone will result in significant savings. Inquire on pipe-system price.
