Today, we are going to perform a sketch. Now, let me introduce the characters of the sketch. There are four sisters in the family. They are Stephanie, Iris, Kelly and Irene and their mother is Polly. As Chinese New Year is coming, Mum is busy cleaning the house. The four sisters had decided to bake a butter cake for the big celebration. Lets give them a big applause! : Kelly, have you printed out the recipe of butter cake? : Yes! Irene, can you pass the recipe to Stephanie? : Okay! (Irene then passes the recipe to Stephanie.) : Irene, can you help me to take the electronic scale? : Alright! : Let me check the ingredients: 5 eggs, 4 ounce of butter, 8 ounce of flour and 5 ounce of sugar. : Emm but we only have scale that measures gram? : Mum! Can you help us? : Sure! First of all, you have to know 1 ounce is equal to how many grams. : Kelly, can you check on the Internet? Iris, please take a calculator. : Sure! No problem! : 1 ounce is equal to 28.35 grams. : So, 4 ounce of butter is equal to 113.4 grams. 8 ounce of flour is equal to 226.8 grams and 5 ounce of sugar is equal to 141.75 grams. The standard units such as kilogram (kg), gram (g), milligram (mg), kilometer (km), meter(m) and centimeter (cm) are important in our everyday life. It is important to have standard units so that people from different countries will not face difficulties to communicate with each other especially during interactions in business and in the area of transportation.
