It gives me an understanding of the whites mentality towards indigenous people. It also gave me background information and a general understanding of the Aboriginal rights in the mid 20th century. Annotation: This newspaper article from the Australian provides a specific example of the rights that Aboriginals struggled with. Annotation: This newspaper article from Newsday provides a specific example of the present-day struggle Aboriginals have to deal with to gain power and dignity for themselves. This discusses the Aboriginals attempts to have chairs on the legislation board. It showed me that there are still ongoing difficulties that Aboriginals have to deal with. Reconciliation Place. Annotation: This source is a government website that provides pictures and descriptions of the memorials that were made in respect to indigenous people. It shows me the attempts that the government made in memory and respect to those impacted negatively from the settlement. It also gives a specific example of changes that are still being made to reconcile the natives.

Annotation: This source is a video recording of a speech presented by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. It provides a specific responsibility taken by the government to apologize to the members of the Stolen Generation. Link-Up, is an Aboriginal organization that was established in 1988 to reunite removed children with their Aboriginal families. It provides me with a specific understanding on changes still in effect for human rights and also tells me how the Stolen Generation was a violation of rights. It provided me with the original amendments, which helped support the theme of this project.

Annotation: This source provides information on the current job programs that have been created to help the Aboriginals find jobs. ). The Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) and the Australian Employment Covenant (AEC) are more non-profit organizations that specialize in mentoring and placing Aboriginals in jobs. Annotation: This is a government website that provides a digital copy if the Bring Them Home Report which was the title of the Australian Report of the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from their Families. It was an independent report to the Federal Parliament through the Attorney General. This provides both a responsible action taken and descriptions of what the Stolen Generation was. It provides testimonies and pictures of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders and their struggle for social advancements. The organizations website gives me an example of a responsibilities taken and organizations made.

It gave me a general overview of the topic and also some interviews taken of the members of the Stolen Generation. I used this resource in my rights and violations paragraph. Kevin Rudd. Annotation: This source is a biography of Kevin Rudd who was Australias Prime Minister during the early 21st century. Rudd was one of the few and first government leaders who acknowledged the Stolen Generation and its members. He formally apologized and pledged to make changes. It gave me an understanding of their rights during the time period of my topic. I used information from this resource to support my claims that indigenous people were not treated equally.

Annotation: This book provides information on the indigenous people of Australia; focusing on their customs and way of life It gave me examples of how western civilization affected their lives. This source provides what currently went on to improve the living conditions of Aboriginals and shares how they still struggle for human rights. Web. 5 Sept. 2013. Annotation: This article provides detailed descriptions on the governments promotion of assimilation and also the aftermaths of the removals and what happened to the members. Assimilation was the idea that the indigenous culture is primitive and should be changed to follow the western way of living. I used this information to support my claim that the Stolen Generation was a violation of Aboriginal Rights.
