VINCE HALL (LEFT) AND MICHAEL ZUCCHET ARE INVOLVED IN TWO VERY
PIVOTAL RACES THIS YEAR
Vince was senior aide to City Councilman and Congressman Bob Filner as well as Governor Gray Davis, and has worked on legislation to preserve critical sensitive habitats, create and expand parks, improve the quality of our air and water, educate the public on environmental issues, and build diverse coalitions to enhance the political strength of the environmental agenda. Vince says "I treasure San Diegos beautiful coastline and will work to preserve it and the rest of San Diegos precious environment. I have worked to protect our environment through advocacy, education, and political involvement." Sierra Club considers this a priority race for San Diego. Send Vince Hall to Sacramento to work for San Diegos and Californias environment. Volunteer for Vince by calling 619-237-7811 or visiting his website at http://electvince.com/
environmentalists Jim Bell, Michael Beck (Endangered Habitats League) and Marco Gonzalez (Surfrider Foundation) have also endorsed Mr. Zucchet. Born and raised in San Diego, Zucchet is a third-generation resident of Council District Two. Zucchet earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a major in Environmental Studies. During his yearlong volunteer internship with the nonprofit Environmental Defense Center in Santa Barbara, Mike developed a passion for community activism, working to stop a high-rise hotel development on public park land near the Santa Barbara waterfront. Zucchet served on the board of the League of Conservation Voters in San Diego County for three years, and served as president in 2001. During his time on the board, he worked passionately to help raise money for the campaigns of pro-environment candidates running for local office in San Diego County. His personal involvement in his community includes a long history of volunteer work for various causes. This history includes a term as Vice President and program chair for the Pacific Beach Town Council, serving as an elected member of the Pacific Beach Community Planning Committee, and being appointed as a member of the Citizen's Panel to Site a New Animal Shelter for San Diego. Through his efforts with these organizations, Michael Zucchet has demonstrated a true commitment to enhanced environmental quality, and for this reason we at the HS Sierra Club endorse him.
