PSA AND NLI REMINDERS Coaches, with signing day for baseball, basketball, golf, tennis, softball and volleyball just around the corner, here are a few reminders about a PSAs status in regards to signing and NLI or financial aid agreement, as well as permissible contact with them around the signing period. The Dead Period for these sports is April 14-17 with the Signing Period beginning April 16. Bylaw 13.02.12.1 Exception After Commitment After an individual has signed a National Letter of Intent or the institution's written offer of admission and/or financial aid or after the institution has received his or her financial deposit in response to its offer of admission, the individual shall no longer be subject to the restrictions of Bylaw 13.1. The individual remains a prospective student-athlete for purposes of applying the remaining provisions of Bylaw 13 and other bylaws. Bylaw 13.1.3.3.2 Letter-of-Intent Signing-Date Exception Institutional coaching staff members (see Bylaw 13.1.3.4.1) may make unlimited telephone calls to a prospective student-athlete on the initial date for the signing of the National Letter of Intent and during the two days immediately following the initial signing date.!

CAMP AND CLINIC REMINDERS Coaches, with camp season only a couple months away, please pay attention to the following reminders about dates, advertisements and employment of PSAs. Your camp is not subject to recruiting calendar restrictions, but you (or any staff member) make any sort of recruiting presentation during the duration of the camp. Also, you may not hold your camp during your sports dead period. 13.12.1.5 Recruiting Calendar Exceptions The interaction during sports camps and clinics between prospective student-athletes and those coaches employed by the camp or clinic is not subject to the recruiting calendar restrictions. However, an institutional staff member employed at any camp or clinic (e.g., counselor, director) is prohibited from recruiting any prospective student-athlete during the time period that the camp or clinic is conducted (from the time the prospective student-athlete reports to the camp or clinic until the conclusion of all camp activities). The prohibition against recruiting includes extending written offers of financial aid to any prospective student-athlete during his or her attendance at the camp or clinic (see Bylaw 13.9.2.2), but does not include recruiting conversations between the certifying institution's coach and a participating prospective student-athlete during the institution's camps or clinics. Other coaches wishing to attend the camp as observers must comply with appropriate recruiting contact and evaluation periods. In addition, institutional camps or clinics may not be conducted during a dead period. (Revised: 4/3/02, 4/26/12) Your camp must be open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level, or gender. NOT SKILL OR ABILITY.
IS THIS PERMISSIBLE? A Head Coach at Samford has begun preparations for his summer camps. Because this was his first year as head coach at Samford, he wants to use a lot of advertising to boost attendance. Is it permissible for the coach to use multiple forms of advertising?
