Arbor Day Foundation Offers
Free Trees
National Arbor Day is Friday, April 25
this year, and the Arbor Day Foundation is
making it easy for anyone to celebrate the
annual tree-planting holiday. Join the
Foundation in April and receive 10 free
shade trees.
By joining the Foundation in April, new
members receive the following treesred
oak, sugar maple, weeping willow, baldcy-
press, thornless honeylocust, pin oak, river
birch, tuliptree, silver maple and red
maple.
The free trees are part of the
Foundations Trees for America campaign.
These trees provide shade in the sum-
mer and vibrant colors throughout the
fall, said John Rosenow, founder and chief
executive of the Arbor Day Foundation.
Through the simple act of planting trees,
one person can make a difference in help-
ing to create a healthier and more beauti-
ful planet for all of us to enjoy.
The trees will be shipped postpaid with
enclosed planting instructions at the right
time for planting in April or May. The six-
to 12-inch trees are guaranteed to grow or
they will be replaced free of charge.
To become a member of the Foundation
and receive the free trees, send a $10 con-
tribution to Ten Free Shade Trees, Arbor
Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue,
Nebraska City, NE 68410, by April 30, 2014,
or visit arborday.org/april.
Atlantic City Electric Partners
with Arbor Day Foundation to
Offer Free Trees
Mays Landing-based Atlantic City
Electric is offering 2,000 free saplings to
customers to plant.
For the third year, the utility partnered
with the Arbor Day Foundation through its
Energy-Saving Trees program.
An online tool at www.arborday.org/ace
estimates the energy savings a bald cypress
or sugar maple can provide. The website
uses satellite photos of properties in south-
ern New Jersey to estimate cost savings
based on where on the property the tree is
planted.
For example, a single tree in an ideal
location outside a Cumberland County
home can save more than $5 per month
when it matures, the website says.
There is a limit of two trees per house-
hold. They include sugar maple, American
beech, white dogwood, bald cypress,
Washington hawthorn, river birch and
hackberry.
The saplings are two to four feet when
shipped through the mail. Keep in mind
that it can take a decade or more for them
to grow enough to shade a home.
American Forests, the nations oldest
conservation organization, says that
depending on location, species, size, and
condition, shade from trees can reduce
utility bills for air conditioning in residen-

tial and commercial buildings by 15 to 50
percent.
Atlantic City Electrics parent company,
Pepco Holdngs Inc., was involved with the
original pilot program several years ago.
Because customers are planting trees
themselves, the Arbor Day Foundations
website includes warnings against planting
trees underneath utility wires or too close
to homes.
The reservation period for trees will
continue until all trees are given away.
More than 1,00 trees were available as of
Monday.

The GVCC wants to know how you make a difference in Vineland! We have a
committee that is focused on improving the image of Vineland. Not only from
outside of the area so we
can attract new businesses
to locate here and expand
our economy, but also
from the inside. Citizens
and businesses in
Vineland should be proud
of our city, our history, and all the positive things we already have here. Many
people are doing things every day to help Vineland be a great place to live, work

Annual Run For Aaron Event To Support Big Brothers Big
Sisters and Local Student Athletes
For the 4th consecutive year, Big Brothers Big Sisters will be a recipient of the Run
for Aaron 5K and 1Mile Walk. In 2013, the Run for Aaron donated $8,000 to Big

The Aaron Ploch Memorial Swimming and Soccer Scholarship is given with the
purpose of honoring Aaron's love of sports and his devotion to his family and friends.
Aaron was a happy, kind and loving boy. He was a friend, a cherished brother and a
loving son. He always smiled and taught those who he came in contact with how to be
a good person. Through the Aaron Ploch Memorial Swimming and Soccer
Scholarship, his legacy is carried on by helping his peers attend college and by sup-
porting various childhood charities. This year, half of the proceeds of this event will be
donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties. Please join the
Run for Aaron 5K and 1Mile Walk in honor of Aaron Ploch as well as in support of

When
HUMAN RESORUCE
ASSOCIATION MONTHLY
MEETING.
The Human Resource Association
of Southern NewJersey will hold its
monthly gathering on Thursday, April
17 at the Luciano Center on the cam-
pus of Cumberland County College.
Networking begins at 5:30 and the
dinner meeting begins at 6:30.
Denise Keyser, Esq. of Ballard Spahr
will present Internal Investigations
Lessons Learned from the Rutgers
Fallout. The fallout from events involv-
ing the men's basketball program at
Rutgers University has reinforced the
importance of effective workplace
investigations in helping employers
preserve their reputation and protect
the organization in times of crisis.
During this meeting, we will
explore the entire process of work-
place investigation, with a discussion
of the Rutgers story as a helpful illus-
tration of the complexities and risks
involved with handling critical inci-
dents. We will also examine best
practices to follow in conducting
sensitive investigations, from
responding to reported incidents and
conducting an effective inquiry to
determining a response that is
appropriate to the needs of the
organization and the circumstances
at hand.
The Sponsor for the meeting is
Marsh McLennan/Trion. Cost of the
dinner is $45 and reservations must
be made, no later than noon Monday,
April 14, by visiting
http://hrasnj.shrm.org.
