Man, son charged prise Sdn Bhd were charged in two sessions
courts here yesterday with 69 counts of
money laundering involving RM22 million.
Ame Hamzah Mat Atar, 51, and his son,
Azmi Ame Hamzah, 26, claimed trial to all
the charges, allegedly committed between
Selangor, between Dec 14, 2006 and Oct
13 last year.
The charges were read before judge
Yong Zarida Sazali, who then allowed Azmi
bail of RM200,000 in two sureties for all
the charges.

with 69 counts of March 3 last year and Jan 6 this year.
They are alleged to have used the money
from ill-gotten gains to buy Bank Simpanan
Nasional premium saving certificates, unit
trusts, shoplots in Kedah and Terengganu,
pay deposit for purchase of luxury vehicles
Azmi was also ordered to surrender
his passport and to report to the Tanjung
Karang police station on the first of every
month.

Ecstasy pills, 10 Eramin 5 pills, 48kg of
chemical compound for making Ecstasy, and
4.6 litres of syabu in liquid form and 3.3kg in
powder form.
He said the equipment for processing
drugs were also seized during the raids.
In another raid the next day, police arrested
two more Iranian men and found 6.437kg of
syabu at a condominium in Jalan Putra.
The suspects’ possessions were sealed or
seized including a Honda CRV car and cash
of RM51,433 and US$10,000.
Abu Samah said initial police investigation
found that the drugs were for local distribu-
tion but did not dismiss the possibility that
they were also meant for the international
market.
He said all the suspects, aged between 25
and 48, were being detained until Tuesday
for investigation under Section 39B of the
Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
NZ PM to visit Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: New Zealand Prime Minis-
ter John Key will arrive here on Sunday for a
three-day visit where he will also witness the
signing of the Malaysia-New Zealand Free
Trade Agreement.
The agreement, to be signed on Monday,
will be the third to be signed by Malaysia
after the ones with Japan and Pakistan.
This will be Key’s first visit to Malaysia
since becoming the prime minister in No-
vember last year.
The Foreign Ministry said Key would
meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul
Razak and they are expected to discuss
and exchange views on bilateral, regional
and international issues of mutual interest.
