Dear Parents, EASTER CELEBRATIONS EASTER HAT PARADE TUESDAY 22

ND

APRIL

I would like to invite our children in Reception to Class 6 to get involved with a small Easter project over the holidays . nd Children are invited to bring an Easter hat or bonnet on the first day of next term (Tuesday 22 April) which they have played a significant part in making themselves. We propose to hold a competition when the children return on their first day back and hold a parade assembly to let our children show off their headwear. Hats will be judged by members of staff and prizes awarded to winning entries. We hope that this will be a really colourful and enjoyable event where most children will manage to make an entry. I also hope that this will be something that they enjoy doing over the long break. Hats or bonnets should have an Easter theme which may run along the lines of new life, spring, chicks etc. I have seen a really wide range of creative ideas in the past and I hope that the children of Walton-le-Dale will enjoy this! PARENT GOVERNOR VACANCIES There are currently 2 parent governor places available. I would like the parent community to be aware of this as we will be asking for interested parents in the summer term to make themselves known to the school office. Should we have more parents interested than places available, a parental vote will then take place. DRESS AS YOU LIKE DAY FRIDAY 4
TH

APRIL 6PM

On the last day of term, children will be invited to come dressed as they like. We would like to kindly ask for a th donation of an Easter Egg donation towards a forthcoming Easter Games Night held by the PTA on Friday 25 April. Adults and children will have a really fun evening getting together playing quizzes, chocolate egg tombola, playing bingo, treasure egg hunting and playing other games in the process of winning Easter eggs! DANCE TALENT KS2 CHILDREN Is it not too late to sign up for Dance Talent. The sessions start after school Wednesday 23 April through to the 21 May until 4.15pm. The 5 week course offers fun packed weeks of street dance, hip hop, lockin, house, popping and breakin! This is available to boys and girls in the junior years regardless of their ability. There will be an opportunity for the younger children to join a course at a later date after Easter half term. Spare letters are available at the office. HEADLICE We are being invaded by head lice and parents are understandably frustrated when their children collect and bring them home. I would be incredibly grateful if you would all be extremely vigilant and check your childs hair in an attempt to eradicate them from our school community. I have found Hedrin to be a popular and successful treatment which can be obtained free of charge from any pharmacy using the minor ailments system. Usually, this involves one treatment, and then another a week later to ensure that all eggs are completely removed. I am afraid that there is no magic solution to this problem apart from regular checking and quick treatment when found. I have contacted the school nurse for further guidance for parents to help with this matter and it will be circulated to you as soon as possible. CHOIR There will be no choir rehearsal after school Thursday 3 April due to the performance in assembly today.

YEAR 3 HEALTHY SNACK BARS On Thursday 3rd of April, Year 3 will be selling healthy snack bars they have created. Each bar is 50p. Anyone from Y3, 4, 5 or 6 can buy a bar by coming to the Y3/6 yard at playtime. I'm sure they will be delicious! PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY! Please may I ask that parents who pick up and drop their children off via the Danesway gate to be careful when they are driving and parking before and after school. Certain vehicles have been reported to the school which have been driving quickly and mounting pavements in a dangerous fashion. I regularly receive concerns from local residents who are troubled by parking over private driveways and even receive reports of aggressive encounters from parent dropping off and collecting. Traffic will always be busy around a school, but I would like to ask that we show courtesy and consideration towards local residents. BOOK/DVD FAIR 2PM TUESDAY 1
