CHAPLAIN'S CORNER:
April is almost here, we have had a little rain to help all of us and we hope you are able to enjoy each day. Hugh King had a beautiful service at the Dixon National Cemetery. A large group from our Post and friends were there to bid him Farwell. Edi Clonce has started her radiation treatments, 5 days a week for 6 weeks, and we all hope this will make her well. I have heard from many of you that have sinus infections and flu symptoms. We pray that all is better now and good health to all of us.

Gary Reason ,All-American Commander
This month an unusual case came before your Service Officer. Our Commander met a vet with a housing problem. This, in itself, is not rare and more often than not it is not anything I can help with. I met with the man and was expecting to have to give the bad news that V.F.W. Field Service Officers are not authorized or qualified to apply to the V.A. for housing benefits. As I talked to him and heard his problem I found that I in fact could help him. I was in the same boat as he about a year and a half ago. He was not homeless, but he could not stay where he was and had no idea where to go. I then produced an application to Eskaton Wilson Manner (where I reside). Turns out this was just what he was looking for. I told him about the veterans preference and the other fine things about the place and he went down and got himself on the list. I sometimes have to remind myself that not all the things a Service Officer can do involve the V.A.
