CAFE strategy " This term 4A and 4B have been focusing on the CAFE reading strategy. CAFE is a source of reading strategy that contains Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, and Expanding Vocabulary. The most resent CAFE strategy we have been focusing on is using text features which comes in to Comprehension. " I improved with text features by reading non ction books in Guided Reading with Miss Jordan.

Writing

This term in writing we have been focusing on writing an information report, a narrative, writers notebook, writing with greater description, show me don't tell me." I believe I have improved more at writing an information report when I am explaining all my facts.

Writer's Notebook

Writers Notebook is a style of writing that we use to get our ideas onto the page. We then turn them into a draft." In Writers Notebook I have improved at writing a draft. A draft is when we zone in to the most interesting part of the writing

Maths

In maths we have have been focusing on the four operations. The four operations are Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.

Addition

Addition is a great tool to use in maths the symbol of it is plus." I have improved on using strategies to help me answer sums quickly."

Subtraction

Subtraction is also a great tool to use in maths. It is basically the opposite of addition." I have improved at using more strategies to help work out the sum like: Using Addition. Adding to the nearest ten. Using both ways to write the sum.

Multiplication
Multiplication is times tables" ! I have improved on my 4 and 6 times tables.

Division
!

Division is a type of maths that is basically multiplication." I have improved my division with strategies."

Inquiry
This year in inquiry our topic was Oceans and Australia

Ocean

Things we have learnt:" That there are ve oceans. These ve oceans are the Pacic, Atlantic, Arctic, Southern, and Indian. " That the Ring of Fire surrounds the Pacic Ocean creating a barrier of volcanoes and earthquakes." That there are ve main layers of the ocean, these are the sunlight, midnight, twilight, abysses and trenches.

Other fun stuff that happened throughout the year.

iPads

At the start of the year we got our iPads. These devices would help us learn and give us some great tips on cyber safety." I have improved with my typing on my iPad and guring out new things." The iPads are AWESOME!

Cross Country
!

Cross Country is an annual sporting event that is held every year at Village Park." This year the grade 4's ran two kilometres around the whole circuit. It was hard work but we all nished." I came 8th and got into district.
